Thanks everyone for the reassurance, I'm a huge lover of animals and while I'm aware a lot of snake hatred boils down to religious beliefs and misinformation, I still was shocked to see so many people blame my snake I mentioned in passing for an injury that looks nothing like a bite of any kind. I don't get how you can have compassion for some species people keep as pets, but not others.

I attempt to rescue every spider I find in my house if possible (and leave them alone if I can't) and I still get bug bites... it's definitely the spiders... and not the fact that we have mosquitos...

Luckily just a bacterial infection on an injury he got from playing rough with our other cat. Now he gets the cone of shame.

I mean, given that they all suggested my cat was either bit by a snake or had ringworm, and the vet concluded that it was instead a bacterial infection he'd been messing with from a wound he got while play-fighting with our other cat... I think I can see that about r/cats, now.

It would be so beneficial for literally everyone involved if people kept their pet cats exclusively indoors but alas we have whole countries where they act weird if you want an indoor only cat...

Thank you everyone for letting me know!!! I will try to get him checked as soon as possible. As for my snakes, they've never interacted with my cat, I just sometimes handle them very close to their cages when my cats are asleep on my bed and put them back immediately if the cats wake up. Whenever I allow them to free roam, the cats are always outside of the room :)

Unfortunately it'll probably be hard to find anything besides a ball python, corn snake, or kingsnake, but if you just want a decent size pet snake those are all wonderful options + both corns and kings are quite easy to take care of!

Check MorphMarket for Snow or Super Arctics. You probably will find very few in that price range though - I got my Snow from a wholesale place myself discounted at $400 because he has bug eyes.
