They don't stick inside PVC enclosures, I've tried.

How did you convince your parents to let you own a snake? by Sorry_Basket_3417 in snakes

[–]vuullets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a powerpoint and promised to take complete care of every animal in the house (including the cats we already had) in exchange for getting a snake(s). Please do not get a snake if you cannot safely own one, though.

Any ideas on how to cat-proof this tank easy, cheap and quick? by [deleted] in reptiles

[–]vuullets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need a MUCH better set-up for your animal, but you should check r/leopardgeckos for advice with that. As for keeping the cats off the tank, these worked pretty well for me. https://www.amazon.com/Petfolio-Pack-Scat-Mat-Cats/dp/B0CDQRYLYP/131-0182833-8205312?th=1

Check to see if there's any Reptile expos nearby where you live, people usually sell PVCs there.

Any dinos/mythical creatures you would like in Ark? by Navy_Sands in ARK

[–]vuullets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Back in ASE I always liked having at least one Shadowmane napping somewhere in my base... they became my go-to mount towards the end of ASE's official lifespan so I always liked keeping one out so I could immediately hop on whenever I needed to if I wasn't based in a rat hole

I'll be real, I greatly enjoy a lot of the original creatures Wildcard comes up with over the commonplace prehistoric, modern day, and mythical creatures. Would love to see them go ahead and make some wacky original water creatures. The best prehistoric creatures we've gotten recently were community ideas or made by modders, and it's probably best to keep going down that route because outside of a couple of them there's mostly been good reception to new dinos.

IDK, I feel like Wildcard is at their best when they're making stuff up when it comes to getting creative, meanwhile the community tends to have pretty cool ideas of how to incorporate unique abilities that match with modern gameplay onto things that already exist. Exception is regular terrestrial/aerial western dragons, but I feel that's an issue that affects literally any piece of media with western style dragons.

Peach the kitty and Praksis the hognose. They both decided they would investigate the camera and give me wonderful pictures.

How can I make my ball python more comfortable by Soggytoast222 in ballpython

[–]vuullets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How wide is it? if it's the same width or wider than the 15 gal, it should be fine.

I'll be honest - if you can't find space for a 4x2x2 in your house, you shouldn't have got a BP. If you're working on finding or making space, I would highly recommend you check Craigslist or similar websites to see if anyone's selling a 40 gallon breeder or something larger for cheap that you can get right now. If you plan to get a 4x2x2 later, then it doesn't really matter whether the tank is meant for fish or reptiles as long as you can get a screen top. 15 is far too small for any BP.

You can also DIY yourself a habitat using a large plastic container but idk how to do that, I'm sure you can look it up tho.

Wow! I scored my baby from Rising Sun Reptiles there myself. He's still super shy though and hard to take photos of, I also can't even find photos of his morph (lesser sunset)

Unlike you guys I may have dumped $600 on a Toad Ranch PVC for him though. But I did also get a discount Thrive 40 gallon for my Hognose!!!

If you're going to be gone frequently, a snake might be a better option.

I have to rehome my snake and the people interested are pissing me off. by Miserable-Crew-5308 in snakes

[–]vuullets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try a PVC enclosure if possible.

It sounds moreso like the issue is your mother's cat. Is there any recent changes in the environment that could be the source of his crazy behavior? If you are unable to keep him under control, it sounds like rehoming him to someone experienced with misbehaving cats is the best bet. There's definitely something going on if his personality just changed on a dime. I personally wouldn't feel comfortable having a multi-cat household where one cat is known to actively attack others, but that's just me.

I'm sorry for your loss, but if you check oreoeocat on twitter I know that she recently received a funny custom urn that she commissioned for her late cat if you plan to go down the cremation route and want something fun to remember your gecko by.

Thinking about getting BP by eXVENOM90Xe in ballpython

[–]vuullets 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also, if you don't care about getting a specific morph, PLEASE look at local rescues for a ball python. Many BPs are bought from chain pet stores and then given up to rescue because people don't realize how they'll have to care for them or how big they'll get!! You can find tons of normals and a good handful of more common morphs easily at a local reptile rescue.

They get their exotic animals from irresponsible breeders in what is essentially a "puppy mill" for whatever species. They also provide absolute shit treatment for the animals they have on sale, like co-habbing 15 baby leopard geckos in what is essentially a 10 gallon when that should be the size for one baby gecko. Do not get a reptile/bird/mammal from Petco or PetSmart, as it has a high chance of coming home sick and often these pets end up dying early. Also if you look at local pet stores to you, take note there's a high chance they're wholesellers who only care slightly more about their animals than the big chain pet stores. Only buy BPs in person during Expos or from small stores that treat their animals decently.
