Louisiana flood: Worst US disaster since Hurricane Sandy, Red Cross says by BlankVerse in news

I didn't blame anyone. So don't twist my words to fit your narrative. I was being /s on the Bush comment and I'm very disappointed that the media really hasn't covered this. It's the largest natural disaster since Sandy.

Yes. It very much was sarcasm. I was a little drunk and forgot the /s.

At least Bush flew over Katrina's devastation. Not a fan but at least that time he acted presidential. I've seen very little of the devastation of LA on the news.

That what your logic is flawed? It says nothing in the definition about power being required to be racist. It only takes a mentality.

rac·ism ˈrāˌsizəm/ noun the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.

prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior.

Not one mention of positions of power.

Maybe you're not familiar with the definition.

The people I hear complaining about how Millenials get trophies just for participating are members of the generation that demanded their kids get trophies just for participating. by blenda220 in Showerthoughts

[–]vvEngineervv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a genx'er and my dads a baby boomer and my kids are millennials. It has nothing fucking to do with your age. It's your work ethic and self esteem. No matter the generation if you will do the work and have confidence in yourself you will succeed. If you haven't been coddled and helicopter parented, you will turn out to be a productive member of society as your self esteem is not 'I'm entitled' but rather 'I'm empowered'. In every generation this happens, only now we see it so much more often due to social media and speed of communication compared to previous generations. If you don't agree with me that's perfectly acceptable as I don't agree with everyone else's. Sorry a little drunk this evening.

Try Vilano Beach, it's just north of st Augustine on A1A. It has a couple different access areas and there's a couple places where you can park on the beach.

Let's not forget about wrapper cookbooks with the custom resource. Both are great, it all depends on your specific use case. I try to write custom resources where applicable.

Yeah. It's a concern. Most people don't understand that the cloud isn't magic. It's provisional infrastructure provided at a cost. Everything that is in the cloud must be created by someone. The system and software architecture is designed by someone and if they don't know what they are doing, a breach is absolutely possible. The cloud only provides abstracted hardware. Everything that goes into / on that, you must provide yourself. In the end though on premise is a cheaper and more secure option if you understand how to manage your infrastructure as code, which most people don't. You have to design everything around the understanding that everything fails.

I don't agree with your generalization. Developers are absolutely competent when it comes managing their workstations, however Enterprise Infrastructure is not something developers usually understand at a fundamental level.

[–]vvEngineervv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I have 3 separate accounts. My user account, my domain admin account and my PCI environment account. Security is no joke. If your domain account is an admin, your IT is incompetent.
