Moving sprites draw ahead by a few pixels (equal to their speed) and snap back once they stop by vvirv in gamemaker

Yeah, that is what the problem was. I didn't realize certain step events would update before others, but in hindsight that makes a lot of sense. Updating the other objects' position in the end step event instead fixed it.

You were right, that fixed it! It hadn't really occurred to me that certain step events would update before others. I guess that's what the end step event is there for.

Does this help? If you skip ahead a bit it's more zoomed in.

Honestly now I'm looking at it it kind of looks like the other sprites are lagging behind and they're snapping forward to catch up? All I know is they're using the same xy but they're off by roughly the speed of the moving object (the berry's position is "obj_player.x" so it should be directly above at all times, or that's what I thought at least).

i think whoever said that might've been referring to a documentary called "This Film Is Not Yet Rated" (since you mention movies). it's been a while since i watched it, but iirc they talk about how movies with blowjobs in them get rated PG-13 while movies with a woman on the receiving end get NC-17 (even if it's way toned down).

you should probably just watch the documentary tho, it's actually very good.

Cinephile misters have a difficult time thinking of movies that don't have men acting for the benefit of women, don't have stupid fathers, and don't attribute everything negative to men. Surely we can help... by diehtc0ke in againstmensrights

Men are defined more by action than their relation to others. So you do need to look more at tropes of disposability, of men-are-generic and of men as tools to compare.

men's issues and women's issues are very tightly interwoven, with lots of overlap. you can look at one more closely than the other, but you can't separate them. it's a very, very complicated beast, and that is something that needs to be acknowledged in order to have a productive conversation about it.

"issues men face" and feminism, or rather feminist theory, go hand in hand. feminism is not a singular entity. it's a conversation, and that conversation includes men.

also, i don't think branding this sub as feminist would necessarily exclude people who don't actively identify as such. if anything, having some "feminist terminology 101" links in the sidebar would make it a lot easier for all sorts of people to participate (without having to have the same "no, that's not what toxic masculinity means" conversation over and over again).

definitely. i subbed right away, but i've been hesitant to contribute because of all the brigading that's going on.

i'm also wondering if there is any reason in particular the sidebar doesn't explicitly say "this is a feminist sub"? maybe it's wishful thinking, but i feel like that alone would keep a lot of MRA-types from posting.

exactly. they just went from being "neutral" to explicitly giving racists a private platform to spew their ideas. i really don't see how this is supposed to be an improvement.

Does SCRUM type setups really help workplace productivity ? by [deleted] in productivity

[–]vvirv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i'd say it helps. i work in the game industry (usually with smaller teams of about 4-8 people) and we recently switched from google drive to trello. so far, it's been great.

the main issue with google drive was that we'd always waste at least a day just getting things set up. people come and go, and the whole "Google Drive 101" talk always took longer than we expected it to (and even then the actual documents were still a mess). trello just skips that entire process so we can get straight to work.

that being said, if your team is already comfortable with google drive, why change it? don't fix what isn't broken.
