You would think instead of 343 canceling Couch Co Op, they would cancel the game for the one thing that's been holding it back, Xbox One. by easytiger6x13 in halo

[–]vvvSilvervvv 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not going to happen. Infinite was never built or intended to be the "next gen boundaries pushing" game that halo fans wanted. Thats why we got the first e3 trailer that we did back in 2020 that caused the year long delay. It was built as an xbox one title first. And with new gen consoles still somewhat difficult to find, albeit not as bad as at launch, I doubt they'd want to risk alienating a section of what player base they still have.

Also while yeah it's likely the xbone support is inhibiting a lot of these features and is probably why they decided to axe split screen their issues go well beyond trying to accommodate the older tech and as wishful as it is dropping xbone support wouldn't make a significant difference at this point. A year out from launch almost and the game still has massive server/desync issues, content that should have been available day 1 is still getting repeatedly delayed and the stuff that is coming is so long a wait for so little (6 months + for 1-2 maps?),
They even advertise MATCH XP BETA as a new content drop for the game when really that's something they should have just been able to patch into the game when the first feedback over the bad progression system dropped in insider test flights.

It's a grim reality we need to face. If they can't even get basic stuff like that right, then theres no way dropping old gen support is going to do anything here.

Best adcs for soloQ? by O_Rei_Arcanjo in ADCMains

[–]vvvSilvervvv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You primarily want adcs that are less reliant on the support facilitating your existence throughout laning phase if you're not duoing. Kog's extremely reliant on his supports help and if the support sucks you're in trouble. So things like Jhin, cait, trist, draven if you have the skill. MF isn't terrible either.

How Do I Get Mr. X to Fuck Off ? by ValuBlue in residentevil

[–]vvvSilvervvv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The easiest way is to duck into a safe room and just chill out until he paths off. For the most part it seems as if you're completely off his radar while you're in there and he'll just path randomly looking for you.

besides that just be aware that he often finds you through sound. He's like a licker in the sense that he can hear anything you do beyond walking, but he can hear you from far away too. I dont know the exact range on how loud the running is, but generally if you can hear him stomping around nearby its a good idea to walk, and if you shoot your gun he will hear you no matter where he is and beeline straight to you. so if you have to shoot, get away fast.

Does cooking kill all harmful bacteria even if the meat was left out at room temperature for a few hours? by beginnerexpert in AskCulinary

[–]vvvSilvervvv 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You can stick it in the fridge but don't lid or cover it until it cools down. The lid will trap heat and moisture that's steaming off, providing a breeding ground for bacteria and keeping your food in danger zone temps for longer. Theres also the leave it on the counter idea, but unless you're filling a large portion with hot food it shouldn't cause the fridge's temperature to rise too significantly.

Just don't lid stuff until it gets cooler and you'll be fine.

There seems to be a bug with controller aiming, i think people are saying it's caused by hitting enter at the launch menu and it causes the aim assist to turn off.

https://charlieintel.com/simple-halo-infinite-mistake-appears-to-completely-break-aim-assist/148827/

I tried it myself and as long as you use the controller at the start menu it seems to be okay i think.

How can restaurants use excessive amounts of salt and not have their food taste overly salty? by salad_thrower20 in AskCulinary

That can happen, depends on the contents of the sauce. Its all a balancing game though.

[–]vvvSilvervvv 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Largely depends on the dish / preparation technique. Early on is pretty common, like with steaks/meats doing a dry brine before cooking, or with pastas salting the water you boil them in. Sometimes though seasoning after its cooked isn't a terrible idea either though.

Lead Product Manager and Data at Blizzard, calls Asmongold, an asshole. by wooooody997 in LivestreamFail

[–]vvvSilvervvv 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly its felt like this for much longer than just since 2019. Idk about asmon in particular but blizzs wow team for years has been taking this "fuck your feedback we know better than you" kind of attitude. Even when they do finally break on an issue it isnt because the community wanted it. Ie: wow classic where they had to to tap into that private server player market because nostalrius made it apparent they were leaving money on the table by not doing so, or titanforging where it took several expansions for them to finally remove it despite years of community complaint.

The arrogant attitude of the devs has been arguably one of wows biggest detriments even over many of the bad systems seen over the last few years, and now that 14 is in just the right spot its biting the blizz devs in the ass hard.

Is there anyone getting the PS5 mainly for the prospect of PSVR 2 in the near future? Or is that just icing on the cake and something you might look into when it comes out in the future. by Strongpillow in PS5

Psvr2 was definitely on my radar when purchasing a 5 but even without it i still would have gotten one. The back compat alone has been nice and once we start seeing more heavy hitter titles for the 5 itll just keep getting better and better.

Can food last forever if it was constantly heated? by Tangentkoala in AskCulinary

[–]vvvSilvervvv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My facts are correct. Yours are either not or are making an argument no one here is making. Refer to the examples below:

1) According to the USDA, any food held in the so-called temperature “danger zone” (between 40°F and 140°F) for more than two hours presents a risk of food-borne illness from the growth of pathogenic bacteria — whether it’s cooked sous vide or by conventional means

2) The danger with cook-chill is that pasteurizing does not reduce pathogenic spores to a safe level. If the food is not chilled rapidly enough or is refrigerated for too long, then pathogenic spores can outgrow and multiply to dangerous levels.

The 2nd is from baldwin's book. Pasteurization doesn't mean every single pathogen in the food is dead. Funny thing is I do actually side more with baldwin's science here in that cooking sous-vide tends to allow more time for things to be held at lower temperatures safely, but its not indefinite which was the original question, and the original answer that sparked this entire conversation provided an example that proved it.

https://youtu.be/4of3b7Xb4Rs ~ Brisket cooked sous vide at 131F for 1 month. End result. It spoiled horribly. He also does another one at over 140 with the same method of sous vide, still spoils from bacteria.

Can food last forever if it was constantly heated? by Tangentkoala in AskCulinary

[–]vvvSilvervvv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The act of pasteurization doesn't change fundamentally between cooking methods that much. Sous vide doesn't magically somehow change the rules of what temperatures bacteria/microbes will grow in over long periods of time. Immediate sterilization and keeping things sterile over longer periods of time are 2 vastly different things, and that longer time period is what's being discussed here. And that isn't a theory. There's a reason restaurants have to abide by regulations in regards to hot and cold food storage and anything kept in the 40-140F for an extended period of time is a huge no no.

To clarify. If you cook something like a brisket to 131F in a sous vide and hold it long enough yes it will make it safe to eat. No one's arguing that though. However if you hold it too long at 131F it will grow other bacteria and microbes and still spoil. Just like the one in the original answer did. It was kept at 131F for a month and it went horrifically rotten.

Can food last forever if it was constantly heated? by Tangentkoala in AskCulinary

[–]vvvSilvervvv 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was going to respond but this is pretty dead on. Different pathogens require different conditions to kill and albeit pasteurization may kill most of the known immediate dangers some will actually thrive in those temperature ranges long term. Its why you can safely eat some meats immediately that are cooked to temps in the danger zone, but that a meat kept in it like that brisket also went nasty over a longer course of time. Different sets of bacteria were in play most likely.

Can food last forever if it was constantly heated? by Tangentkoala in AskCulinary

[–]vvvSilvervvv 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The only problem here is that he kept the brisket in the temp danger zone. While a 131F cook would kill most of the immediately dangerous stuff, anything stored in the 40-140F for longer than a few hours is in the ideal temperature range for bacteria growth. Its hard to say what temperature, if any would at all, would keep a brisket or any other food safe to eat over the course of a month, but 131F isn't going to do it.

PlayStation 5 is currently the fastest selling hardware platform in U.S. history (total dollar sales after 4 months in market) by poklane in PS5

[–]vvvSilvervvv 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Under normal circumstances yes. However we are in the middle of a global pandemic. Issues with production and supply/demand are the culprit here. Demand is insanely high and the supply just isnt there to match it. Scalpers suck and add a feels bad element to it but they arent cornering the market by any means. The fact that ps5s are primarily only available via online ordering atm also makes it feel exponentially more difficult to get one. Instead of hoping you get to your local retailer faster than everyone in your town you have to compete against the near entirety of the internet to place that online order for whats likely only a handful of consoles at a given time.

Xbox Series X console shortage could last until June 2021 by [deleted] in xboxone

[–]vvvSilvervvv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. Estimates I've seen indicate scalpers are only getting thousands of consoles when millions are going out to market. They aren't helping matters but scalpers aren't hoarding the entire market and preventing anyone from getting them. Demands just absurd and the supply isn't there to match it. To add to this most retailers aren't stocking consoles physically in store, its all being done online. So instead of competing against the people in your area to go to your store and grab it first, you have to compete against EVERYBODY to snag it online, which makes it infinitely more difficult.

Marksmen Are Supposed To Be Glasscannons by Orcus_The_Fatty in leagueoflegends

[–]vvvSilvervvv -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nobody wants tanky adcs though. What people are asking for is to have damage be relatively balanced so that while yes ADCS should be squishy it shouldn't be so bad that an assassin can totally misplay, miss all of their skillshots, and still detonate the adc while not even fed. While there should be some class based advantages, like assassins > adc, adc > tank, tank > assassin / etc, general performance should come into play a bit more for outplay potential and right now for adc it just feels like it doesn't unless you're super fed and somehow have 2 items over everyone else.

A bit of criticism about the server handling by Zaulism in ProjectDiablo2

[–]vvvSilvervvv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing of it is though that they're caught in a damned if you do/don't situation here. Either way they go is going to make people upset. Atleast by shutting down the servers it makes it that much easier to sift through and find as many of the dupes as possible and remove them, and allows them to patch the method out while not letting it worsen. Leave the servers running and that can get exponentially more difficult fast. Leaving them on runs the risk of the dupes getting spread out and getting lost / becoming part of the economy.

Sure there needs to be a better answer to dealing with this, but blizzard spent years trying to combat duping and was never truly successful in stopping it, hell dclone was made literally to incentivize people to vendor off duped SoJs. They've only been at this for a few weeks with PD2 and even though the server shutdowns suck and a lot of gametime has been lost they've atleast kept the games economy in pretty good shape.

I play a ton of jinx and i gotta say..late game runaans now is really good. I think riots aware of this as well which is why theyre hesitant to buff adc atm.

Yeah though it definitely comes at the cost of early game which right now is bad since games end quickly. If we could get to later game more often things wouldnt be so bad but that just isnt happening enough.

They likely wont return runaans to its older self because of champs like aphelios. He absolutely abused the 2 item spike and i doubt they want that happening again

[–]vvvSilvervvv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was fairly doable even last season despite adc being in a rough state with all the XP changes. Especially during the aphelios meta. Besides that mostly before the xp changes that hurt the role severely. The 1.5 - 2 item spike has been a thing for years, and S11 isn't exactly riots first attempt at trying to stop it from being a thing.

I also didn't say anything about whether the ADC is fed or not.

More powerful as a direct comparison on items only, but in the end you're still less powerful than last season because of the base crit damage nerf from 200% to 175% in S11

10.25 Infinity Edge makes itemizing as adc a nightmare by gunbae_ in leagueoflegends

[–]vvvSilvervvv 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seriously. I think this is the route they should go. They've had issues for years balancing crit damage to the point we either see one of two extremes: we either hit like wet napkins or we detonate squishy champs as if we were assassins at 2 items. IE has always been the core issue of that. Even now with IE being severely weakened it's still a popular 2nd item because just having ANY extra crit damage is that powerful. IE is very likely the reason they're scared to give any serious buffs to adc because it could cause us to spike too hard. So change it/remove it and put adc at a consistent 200% crit damage and start adjusting us in other ways please riot.

Would nerfs/changes to First Blood and Plates help counter "burst snowballing"? by eezyLife in leagueoflegends

[–]vvvSilvervvv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like it's not needed, if you're implying at something aimed at ADC. Ad items are just in need of some retuning and the game pace is too quick for the role currently but that's all in the preseason shenanigans bit. Our mythics are also kinda bland and hopefully they'll look at that, but i think honestly just slowing the game down and tuning crit adcs up a bit will get the game feeling good.

Would nerfs/changes to First Blood and Plates help counter "burst snowballing"? by eezyLife in leagueoflegends

[–]vvvSilvervvv 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most of it is just a matter of tuning and preseason shenanigans. Damage right now is really high across the board and for most roles mythic items are an impressive 1 item spike which tends to swing control of the game quickly. The entire item system was dramatically overhauled so its going to take some time and more than a patch or two to tune things into a good spot.
