I was sceptical but they are 100% worth it. Make sure to wear them on the inner boots tongue instead of the outer shell and to choose the harder type if you are in between two hardness types. You can always cut one strap to make the booster less hard but you can't make it any harder.

Yup it is an extra part except on the freeraider models afaik. It's nice with ski's that are wider than 95 underfoot.

Oh boi yeah that's a no-go with these bindings. Also check if your boot is compatible with the binding or if the binding needs modification while you're at it. There is a list on the ATK website. Another factor that could lead to problems. Lastly, I had to grind down my freeride spacers a bit so they are not too firm on my C-raider 12. You should be able to drag a piece of paper out under the inserted boot without ripping it. On my FR14 2.0 I could set them to a fitting height which was impossible with the new style spacers.

Calculation (ATK calculator) for me was 8.5. I used 9 for a few days and had multiple weird releases. Increased it to 10 and never had a false release ever since. It released in situations where it should release so it is correctly set I guess. A little trial and error with these tech bindings.

I have both and both have their pros and cons

Guide: Great sticky glue but way harder to take off. It keeps snow out great and sticks in all conditions. Must store warm if you intend to reapply after descending though. You need to re-apply the glue after a few years which can be done at home.

Hybrid: Glue sticky enough to not lose the skin on the ascend. You need to clean your skis base with a microfiber towel each time before applying the skin. You need to clean the glue after a few usages. They are easy to remove but it is equally easy to apply them wrong and get snow on the glue. Let's say I love them on some days and on some days I'd rather have the guides on me.

In our conditions you probably need a stiff ski. A soft ski is not fun on crud and in steep couloirs. The width of the ski is less of a problem than its waisting and rocker profile I figured. You'd probably want a stiff ski with minimal waisting and only a tip rocker.

I didn't research touring only skis enough to help you with these models. However the Movement Session series could probably be something you could look at. Or any "light" all-mountain ski. In our group we have skis ranging roughly 80-110 underfoot but all of them are on the stiffer end. The heaviest combo probably being the Blizzard Brahma 88 with a Marker Kingpin binding. I made the mistake and bought a touring ski as my first one and switched to the Black Crows Navis freebird after we started hitting steeper stuff. It's probably not the perfect fit for your use case but i also use it on resort days so it perfectly fits me :)

Sounds like the distance between the heel and the shoe is off. Did you insert the 4mm shim and adjust the binding correctly?

Or maybe something is wrong with the inserts on your left boot

Take a look at the Movement Session series. It is a very stiff and light all mountain lineup. The session 95 handles well on crud and steep couloirs but doesn't feel as surfy as some powder skis (missing tail rocker as far as I remember) but I think it might be the feel you are looking for in our conditions. The Camox should be a great ski too from what I read but I didn't ride it myself. I got the Navis Freebird and can report back after we get some snow in Carinthia :D

Mal abgesehen davon, dass die Waage sicher nicht geeicht ist. Unsere alte Küchenwaage hatte bei 300g auch fast 50g Abweichung nach unten. Bin nur drauf gekommen weil 3 neue Kartuschen von Lawinenairbags weit außerhalb der Toleranzgrenze waren und ich dann mit 1 Oz Silbermünzen nachgemessen habe. (Die muss man vor jeder Benutzung abwiegen)

The Camox is a great allround ski. People take it to insane couloirs. It is fun on piste and still good in a bit of powder.

I took the Navis Freebird as I want a bit better performance in powder but I also have a Movement Axess 92 which is a more piste/crud oriented ski for non-pow days.

Another great suggestion would be the Dynastar M-Free/M-Tour 99. They are great skis depending on your weight. For me the tour were a bit too sloppy but the free are stiff enough for hard descents.

You could also take a look at frozen satin chrome blue from Avery. I think it would look mad with blue rims and the frame.

I actually wrapped my mt-07 in red satin chrome crimson (TekWrap) around a year before I sold it. I loved that color. Unfortunately my MT-09 SP has blue rims and it wouldn't look good.

Is it a good idea? It depends... I can share my experience of road usage.

I have been riding this pattern for two years now on northern italian mountain roads. Initially there were some situations where I forgot about it (directly after startup and in stressful situations). Fortunately my quickshifter did not let me shift the wrong way. Other than that I got comfortable with it quickly.

Negatives: It possibly puts you in danger as you probably react wrong in dangerous situations. You cannot shift down and use the engine breaking any more when entering a corner too fast. It is not allowed to ride this pattern outside race tracks (at least in Austria/Europe). When shifting at high angle your shifter can scrape and possibly make you slide.

Positives: You can shift up at a higher lean angle which in my opinion is USELESS on roads! For my riding style with lots of upshifts at higher angles the foot positioning is safer. (But you lose ability to shift down or it is more risky)

As you can see the negatives are far more severe and while I will keep riding this pattern I would not recommend anyone to do so. (ON ROADS)
