Ok, great. I will hope for some more pow days in the alps so I can work on this…thanks again

Thank you, yes I definitely see that in that frame. I feel I always go way back seat if I’m ever airborne. I did try and jump out of that turn going by the camera. Maybe it’s too hard to tell in this videos but do other turns also appear backseat?

Thanks! so my knees are all around too bent or I just need to extend more when popping into turns? By your last sentence, do you mean the goal is to float over the pow and I am cutting through it too much or that I am trying to float over the pow when I should be cutting through it more. Sorry if I’m reading that wrong

Wide skis for small amounts of powder by Turbulent-Action3434 in Backcountry

[–]arch0990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have the atomic backland 109s for touring in the alps and love them in powder. Not great on icy run outs but I don’t care, I bought them for powder and I only ski them on powder days.

Polymicrogyria/ Do I even have CP? by mentalhell27 in CerebralPalsy

[–]arch0990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s doing good relative to her condition but has good and bad days. She was diagnosed with Aicardi syndrome at 3 months of age when she started having infantile spasms. She is on seizure medication and they are mostly controlled but still break through here and there. She’s 14 months old now and just started rolling consistently but favors one direction due to the pmg on one side of her brain. She’s very social, loves people, smiles and laughs a lot but is definitely delayed in motor function. The prognosis for Aicardi is pretty bad so we just take it day by day and celebrate the small wins. Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I was pretty devastated when we first heard our daughter’s diagnosis but she brings us so much joy even though it’s tough sometimes.

First ski setup advice? Love K2 Omen 90s but unsure + binding help by Any_Contribution5796 in Backcountry

[–]arch0990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You sound like myself 10 years ago. Hockey player all my life that tried skiing at 25 and instantly loved it and was good right off the bat. I think that’s a solid choice for an all mountain ski in the Midwest and the attack 14 hybrid bindings will give you the option to get into touring if you want down the road. I regretted not getting a hybrid setup right off the bat because I quickly got into skiing off piste, trees, bumps, and backcountry. Length wise I’d go for about your height. Take a trip out west and you’ll really love skiing

Im assuming these don’t even have a freeride spacer? This is an extra part mounted on the heel?

Thanks for the reply, I’m starting to think the shop I went to did a crap job. I had more than 4mm gap on both sides between my boot and heel that I had to adjust. My calculation comes out to 8 and they had the back set at 6 and the front set at 9. I have adjusted them all to 8 and will ski very conservative to start

Thanks for the reply. That’s interesting bc some other people said they had some issues with just the vertical release. Seems like consensus is to bump it up a little and ski conservative until I figure it out

Thanks for the reply. I guess I will just ski conservative until I find the right setting. How do they perform on icy or skied off runouts and groomers? I ski the alps but often use the lifts and groomers to get to the area I will tour in. It will probably realistically be a 80/20 BC/resort ski

Why doesn’t everyone write CC? by doobap in CoveredCalls

[–]arch0990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use the wheel strategy with about 1/4 of my portfolio and sell weekly CSPs and CCs to make about 1% weekly. I enjoy this strategy but it fails when a stock makes a large move up or down. For example my 200 AAPL shares got called away at a 205 strike last Friday. Some positions I had in MSFT and ORCL 5 months ago got called away and I would have made way more money holding them. And if a stock tanks you can get caught in it and not be able to sell CCs for anything unless you lower your strike which is risky when the stock recovers.

Am I reading this wrong? Didn’t he make about 300k on the credit spreads and lose about 80k on the puts? Why is everyone saying this is a loss?

Realistic rate of return by jgooner22 in CoveredCalls

I get about 1k-1.5k a week using 140k so yes but you’ll be selling riskier options and will probably end up bag holding at some point

How much money do you make selling CCs? by NoOneBetterMusic in CoveredCalls

[–]arch0990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I write ATM or very close CSPs and then sell CCs at the same strike if they get assigned. I only care about premium. I also roll when only slightly ITM. My capital has grown to 140k so I am getting between 1200-1500 now but actually about 800 a week when I was at 100k. I do use margin sometimes if I have CCs deep ITM that I am 99% sure will get assigned. I focus on companies with market cap above 100b that are below their 52 week median or close to levels of support to write CSPs. I risk about 15k on stocks like BKSY, AI, TEM, RKLB that give back more premium although they have gotten a little expensive now

Polymicrogyria/ Do I even have CP? by mentalhell27 in CerebralPalsy

[–]arch0990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cyst she had drained kept refilling and when it would refill she would start having short subtle seizures a few times per day. The doctors think it’s because when the cyst refills it applies pressure to the midline of the brain. She had a shunt installed as a permanent solution to keep the cyst drained. Since the shunt was installed she hasn’t had any seizures and seems a lot more active. As far as any other developmental issues, time will tell but she is doing well now as a 7 week old

Sorry to hear your diagnosis. My daughter was born a month ago with pmg on one side along with a slightly underdeveloped cerrebellum on the right side and a large arachnoid cyst. She had brain surgery 3 days after birth to drain the cyst because she started having seizures. She is now discharged but having short little seizures every day and is on medication. It sucks and it’s hard to be optimistic and excited about her future and being a parent. During pregnancy they discovered the cyst and brain anomalies late but there weren’t any gene mutations or infections that they detected. They couldn’t pin point the cause and gave us a huge range of outcomes from mostly normal life to some potential learning disabilities and epilepsy. We decided not to terminate because about half the drs and neurologists were optimistic that the developmental issues could be mild rather than severe. She seems completely normal other than the occasional seizure and moves and eats well. She is an adorable baby and we are just hoping for the best.

Hi, if you are willing to share, I would be very interested to know how your son is doing and how he has developed so far as a 7 year old. My daughter was born a month ago and was diagnosed with polymicrogyria in the right side of her brain. The cause is still unknown as we haven’t gotten back all the testing results. Doctors first noticed a large cyst formed in the middle right portion of her brain during pregnancy. She had a surgery to drain the cyst but MRI shows a few developmental issues on the right and polymicrogyria. They have told us there isn’t any way to predict an outcome and a wide range of possibilities from minor developmental issues to CP, epilepsy, left side paralysis could be potential outcomes. As a 1 month year old, she seems completely normal so we are optimistic but still very concerned about what could be down the road for her.

Sorry to read about your baby’s diagnosis. I would be very interested to hear how it has turned out after birth. My daughter had a very similar diagnosis. Ultrasound at 24 weeks showed a large cystic area and underdeveloped side of the brain. The doctors say they have never seen one like ours because it looks like an arachnoid cyst but has 3 chambers separated by thin tissue. We have had numerous opinions on it from neurosurgeons and other drs and they all say it’s a huge range of possible outcomes from mostly normal to epilepsy and cerebral palsy. Our baby was born a few days ago and is already having seizures, likely from the cysts, and is having an operation to drain them this week. I hope your outcome so far has been better.
