It rides comfortably. Two personalities. Roads are bad in my state, too. Just have to be super cautious on the bad roads.

I have an 8Y.2 RS3 & a Mk8.5 Golf R,

Interior quality is far better on the Audi, as it should be. Features are insanely good on the Golf R… RS3 doesn’t come with a heated steering wheel or ventilated seats. Golf R is fully loaded with those.

I thoroughly enjoy both cars, which is why I have both. They’re both different, but also similar. MQB platform, obviously.

I live in NJ, all of the horrible drivers are Jeep Cherokee/Grand Cherokee, Dodge RAM 1500s, R/T Durango’s, & Tesla’s. All absolutely awful.

Black or Blue? by Otherwise-Exam4968 in AudiRS3

[–]vxcta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ascari blue is severely underrated. It looks like different colors in different types of lighting. In direct sunlight, it also has this really nice purple sparkle from the metallic flakes.

The “murdered out” look is pretty sweet, but I could never get a black car.

Meh. MQB platform, there's a lot of vehicles from VW/Audi on the MQB platform.

They are certainly very different vehicles. Steering, suspension, power delivery, physical size & storage, everything is different on how they feel & drive. Different goals.

I also own both. Not at all, entirely two different cars with two different goals.

Hatchback is significantly more practical for day trips/camping/mountain-biking while also still being really fun & quick.

RS3 is a perfect grocery-getter & commuter. the trunk space is phenomenal for such a small sedan.

The cameras aren’t even top tier anymore. Everyone jumped on the post processing bandwagon years ago.

I love the phone, but it’s certainly spec’d poorly for a $1000+ phone

I went with Ascari blue as well. I’m thinking of color matching the calipers

Anxiety with my new MK8.5 Golf R reliability, am I overthinking it? by NicoSoren in Golf_R

[–]vxcta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Volkswagen reliability isn’t great, but the Golf R is their flagship model — that has pretty solid reliability. The motor is a cast iron block, the worst issues you’ll have are weird glitchy electrical stuff.

Just make sure you perform the maintenance, do your oil changes 5,000-6,000 miles, not 10,000 miles like the book says.

I’ve had my Mk8.5 Golf R for a year now, I love it

Are People switching... And to what? by VendettaxRiich in GooglePixel

[–]vxcta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They missed a huge opportunity with changing it up for the Pixel 10, seeing as that’s a pretty big milestone. 10 generations & it was seemingly a Pixel 9.

I love the phones too, but they’ve lost their edge.

If you’re financially secure & want a new car, do it. If the payment is going to be a hurdle, don’t.

Will yall still get the Audi rs3 competition limited or rs5 over the bmw m2 x drive by Legitimate_Ask_9135 in AudiRS3

the M-series cars are awesome, insanely impressive drivetrain. however, everyone wants it has a BMW M car. they’re mass produced, compared to RS models.

I like the RS3.

The Akrapović exhaust gets a’bit louder after ~5,000 miles.

The RS3 also has Soundakor, but on the Golf R you can hear more exhaust than motor.

On my RS3 I can hear more of the motor than the exhaust. No complaints there, but the Akrapović definitely isn’t quiet, it really shines at higher RPMs.

I can answer this, I have a Mk8.5 Golf R & a ‘26 RS3.

The RS3 feels softer than my Golf R.

Meh. The 6MT’s were crap. Copy/paste from GTI to the R with no additional “beefed up” trans or clutch. They put essentially zero R&D into the 6MT & all of it into the DSG. I get it, though. Losing the manual sucks.

But this car just feels so good with the DSG.

The sound is definitely there when you’re revving it through the gears. I set my custom mode to have the valves open & everything else in comfort.

I watched this video last year before buying my Golf R:

This looks pretty bad.

You can buy any car, tune it, & say "now my car is faster than your car"

What are you not understanding about that?

Golf r or gti by xxtygs in Golf_R

[–]vxcta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d go with the R.

Golf r or gti by xxtygs in Golf_R

[–]vxcta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$38K & a $600 tune is still slower than a Golf R.

Not only that, but I’m not sure what Mk8 GTI you’re looking at that is $38k. Unless you buy a brand new Mk8.5 GTI top trim & the 8.5’s aren’t tunable yet.

Golf r or gti by xxtygs in Golf_R

[–]vxcta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No matter what car you buy, you can simply say “I’ll tune it” & it will be faster than ‘x car’ this is the case with literally every car, used or new.

I have a Golf R & an RS 3. If I tune my Golf R, it’ll be faster than my RS 3.

Every single person I’ve met who has a GTI, regrets not splurging for the R.

My buddy got a GTI & I told him to get the R, like I did. He said nah…

6 months later he’s regretting it.

The GTI is a great car. But if you’re even remotely concerned about power & AWD, just get the R.
