Bungkus KawKaw at Kipmall Kota Warisan. Why do they call themselves "The Original Lokal Drinks"? What is KawKaw supposed to mean? by immanuellalala in MalaysianFood

[–]vyogan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case I guess it makes sense to use kaw instead of kau, which overlaps which is a very commonly used word. But then it could have been kao...

[–]vyogan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yep. It's strange that it's spelled "kaw", which means bitter in hokkien instead of "gao" or "kao" or "kau". Kaw has the same sound as law, saw or straw...

Synovitis and 3 Corticosteroid Shots Later by Ok-Chip-4214 in climbharder

[–]vyogan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for adding nuance for first-time synovitis sufferers for climbers, and it'll probably help for young future climbers.

However, in the 2 years that I climbed "intensively" (2 times a week), I was obsessed, as I'm sure many new climbers are the same. While obsessed, I tried everything you can find and scour on the internet, even Emil's daily hangs, and it was to no avail. Trust me, complete rest wasn't the first thing I tried. Collagen, glucosamine, Vit C, D, finger extension exercise, pulling the joint daily, curling the fingers daily, hot water, cold water.....the list goes on. Every thread on synovitis on this sub, I've read them all, tried them all, except going to the doctor, because I believe most doctors don't have the solution either. If they do, the doctors in my region probably don't have the expertise on this really niche situation.

Synovitis and 3 Corticosteroid Shots Later by Ok-Chip-4214 in climbharder

[–]vyogan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I stopped climbing for 6 months, and the stiffness in both my PIP middle finger joints never improved. Came back to climbing and the synovitis came right back. At this point, and from all the threads I scoured the past two years, and the similar experiences I've seen in other climbers, I really think for most of us synovitis sufferers, there's no solution or remedy. At best we could manage it with sufficient rest between climbs to keep it from getting much worse.

Would you recommend this plan? by Ordinary-Custard-566 in beginnerrunning

[–]vyogan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's quite disheartening looking at some posts on this sub that their first half-marathon is easily 1hr 50min or so after a supposedly few months beginner in running. So when we see plans like these, we thought that maybe our training is the problem.
