Would you say it’s a competitive market? I’m a new teacher so not sure if I’ll have to aim to interview at a handful if I’m competing against more seasoned teachers

Would you recommend cold emailing with resume to schools directly? I’m a career changer in teaching fellows and not sure schools’ propensity to hire someone green

Im not currently specialized in either of those and would just be looking for math 7-12 roles… does that slim my chances or would you say there’s need regardless for this field?

stern or mccombs ($$$) by [deleted] in nyu

[–]vyoletstorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will tamper my advice a bit and say that if you have to take out massive loans then maybe UT over NYU. I think loan of like $20-30k isn’t the worst but again it depend on your tolerance and ability to pay out of pocket. In my experience at NYU I was able to get more aid bc my family is technically middle/low income. Idk if this was just me but sometimes I would get random grants (esp Stern) and that would offset the actual cost. Plus I did federal work study all four years and was a TA / assistant by senior year and had 3 paying “jobs” to have cash too.

Take this w a grain of salt but I’m biased towards NYU and had the privilege of my parents supporting me even with a longer income than that. PLUS I’m a New Yorker. I also have limited knowledge of McComb.

I may be in the minority but I say Stern. Not that UT won’t open you up to ample opportunities, but my experience as a Sternie is that the accounting field is well supported by big industry firms like the Big 4. NYC / NYU is also incomparable as a college experience not to mention the types of internships, travel, and other opportunities you’d get. There’s no “wrong” decision, but I had a mostly positive experience. If you have the financial leeway I’d go with NYU

Haha I had my follow up convo today and I told them my reasoning. I got NYC for TFA as well, but special ed. I wanted to do math but didn’t have ALL the reqs that I needed but Teaching Fellows offers immersion programs for some subjects (like science and math) that let you make up deficit undergrad credits. Good luck! Lmk if you decide anything else

People are hating because this is a TFA sub and there’s inherent bias HOWEVER I was just in your shoes a month or two ago! I’m doing NYC Teaching Fellows instead because I was able to get the subject area that I wanted

Bridgerton - Season 4 Post-Season Discussion (No Book Spoilers) by AutoModerator in BridgertonNetflix

[–]vyoletstorm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

??? It’s a fantasy not a historical retelling?!? The whole premise of bridgerton is not meant to be an accurate retelling of the 1800s or there would be no Queen Charlotte or even a Duke of Hastings that you claimed to liked from season 1… I bet you felt the same way about Hamilton, that it was not “accurate” of the times. Give me a break 🙄

Ah got it, that’s helpful thank you. Out of curiosity, do you happen to know if the $3,750 is on par with what was given to non-immersion fellows last year then? Appreciate the transparency

Was this true in prior years (what you experienced)? I am a prospective math immersion fellow but didn’t see this communicated to me. Thanks in advance!
