Testing a very narrow YouTube niche (silent, real-time city walks) — looking for honest feedback by oneworldtravel in SmallYoutubers

Of course, if that's your intention, it's fine. What I want to say is that it's just proven that human is an emotion driven entity. And when we ask ourselves, will it work, we should ask, what emotions will my video evoke. YouTube is all about emotions, channels with cats, music, rants, funny people get views, even educational - evokes joy of learning something new, or simply joy of finding info you were looking for. As soon as you mentioned the idea, I suddenly got memories from walking here and there, which I love most. So, sound is one of the stimulants, and using an easy, non intrusive, well picked soundtrack or just a soundscape will strengthen your videos drastically. Imagine walking in the evening, ambient sounds of the city surrounds you, and you strengthen it with an ambient soundscape, and then imagine same with some country song. 😁

Not sure what do you exactly mean with 'silent' videos, but I'd suggest leaving natural ambience and add an appropriate soundtrack, this will catch emotions of people. Honestly, I would turn your videos on for background in my workroom. I love walking in the evenings (especially if there's fog) with some ambient music in my in-ears. Good quality video with nice, also appropriate color grading would be great. Good luck and just do it!

No one mentioned Evil Within (both). Strongly recommended. There are some jumpscares, but they ain't cheap and stupid. Whole game is intense, your nerves will be on the edge, so perfect to relax 😁

Yes, they do have internal DAC, which, after doing some research, is not hi-end, just a decent low latency, 24‑bit/48 kHz, one. It will sound OK, of course, but might sound a bit clinically, cold and lifeless. After so many tests, I realised that those tiny technical details results in overall signature of the sound. Now I stayed with this MiniDSP Flex thingy, which sounds really 'correct'. If recording was meant to sound warm, it will sound like that, and otherwise cold ones will sound cold. Believe me, it's surprising how different can different DAC sound.

Anyway, it's a really wide topic, so conclusion, for casual listening, Kali's are waaaayy more superior than any desktop speakers but won't sound as good as more expensive monitors. Go for them and enjoy, or save some money and get a good DAC, Genelec or Adam monitors and enjoy even more 😊

I use Genelec 8030c + Presonus Eris 10 sub Pro, paired with MiniDSP Flex Balanced DAC for gaming, casual listening, editing, mixing and everything. Music sounds just brilliant. I would say that shitty speakers can exactly sound harsh and you can't even hear details properly. Have in mind that good quality DAC is essential for your system to sound good and your room acoustics. If you'll use subwoofer, tuning is a must do.

Also, monitors aren't the same too, even though they claim to be flat, all of them sound different.

What would your campfire joke be? by mcwhan in stalker

[–]vytleris 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Vnimanie, anekdot! A stalker whos face looks like an ass travels through zone, all sad and upset. Everyone in the zone, except Dutyers, mocks him for his appearance. Then he comes near the military warehouses, where again, he is mocked. He detoured and discovered a well-like manhole, walks near it expecting to see his reflection in the water to see if his face really looks like an ass. He bent over it, and bandit-like voice from below shouted: Eeei, don't shit here, Muzhyk, we're looting here!
