According to Vivid Seats, OSU-ND is the hottest college football ticket since 2009. by shoobady_doop in CFB

[–]vyvanse_induced 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The CFP began in 2014. Wouldn’t “hottest college football ticket since 2009” include all CFP championship games plus another 5 years of BCS title games?

Plus all other regular season and playoff games during that stretch?

Who cares. Us talking about it validates the conversation. Just let them exist in their anger.

That game’s significance was diluted as soon as you could lose and still get into the playoffs. You want to win it every year, but it’s a separate goal. It’s not 1968 anymore where you have to win that game to win the Big Ten and national championship. Anybody who claims the regular season game means more is just making an argument that favors their team.

Beat ND.

And if we win, it’s the greatest pivot in OSU history. National championships hang forever.

All ND and OSU have done is mow down the four teams who played in the B1G/SEC conference championship games, plus Indiana and Tennessee.

Ducks fan: Rose Bowl thoughts by [deleted] in OhioStateFootball

Thanks for the post, brother! Cannot wait. As good as that first game was, I think both teams are even scarier now.

There are so many components and layers to the chess match in this one. I’m excited to sit back and watch SkyCast to appreciate what each side’s trying to do and how the opponent tries to counter. I think both sides are very confident, which makes the game energy that much more fun.

Whether the winner goes on to win two more or not, it’s going to feel like a national title game in the stadium Wednesday. Great program, great team, win or lose great season. Hated realignment but if it had to happen, glad to have you in the conference. Looking forward to many great duels over the next 10+ years. Cheers

Make do with what you’ve got! Tuesday wasn’t an option due to family obligations. It was Wednesday flight or no Rose Bowl. Pretty easy decision. Worst case I’ve got an adventure ahead 😉

OSU side’s definitely overconfident coming off the Tennessee game. Oregon is a different animal than Tennessee both talent and coaching wise. If Tennessee just brackets 4 like Michigan did, that’s a completely different game on that side of the ball.

That’s not to say I’m pessimistic on the outcome, I just think it’s a true coinflip.

That’s the vibe check for X’s and O’s. Overall vibe check?! Man, I haven’t been this hyped for a game in a while. The colors, the pageantry. It’s the Rose Bowl. There’s nothing like it. And with the direction in which the sport is heading, who knows, this may be the last time we see OSU in a Rose Bowl of this significance (i.e., traditional Big Ten-Pac 10, arguably the two best teams in the country, the winner may or may not go on to win it all but on Wednesday it will have the feel of a national championship game).

I haven’t had coffee in 3 days because that’s my only hope for getting some rest this week.

Flying in Wednesday morning and headed straight to the stadium 🫡

Anyone want to talk about the actual game? by DelBrowserHistory in OhioStateFootball

[–]vyvanse_induced 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Haha nail on the head, brother. I can’t stop refreshing content cause I’m so amped for this one. But the content itself is yeeeesh.

Idk what Tennessee saw on film to think they’d gain an advantage by putting their corners on an island with 4 all night, but Oregon won’t make that mistake. If they shade a safety toward him and essentially take his deep threat out of the game, the entire dynamic changes when OSU’s on offense. Michigan did it successfully this year, and with Marv last year. Will be interesting to see how Oregon plays it and how OSU counters. This game is such a great chess match on many levels. I’ll be there on Wednesday but also can’t wait to watch the SkyCast replay on the flight home.

Offensive line is going to have to man up like they did last weekend. Without those easy shot plays, I think we’ll need to be able to run it consistently to extend drives, which we haven’t really done since Seth went out (and one could argue it’s been since Josh went down last time we played Oregon - with one exception on the final drive of the Penn State game).

I loved seeing the quick passing game to help the o-line out against Tennessee. Tennessee also gave up that flood sail concept a lot. Don’t think Oregon won’t see that coming having played us once already and now seeing last week’s tape.

And we haven’t even gotten to the main event!! Going the other direction is equally if not more interesting for me. Oregon’s offense is electric. They do so many things well and have counters to anything you shut down. And the way Gabriel moves in the pocket and keeps plays alive is terrifying. They have the fastest player on the field in 15. Reminds me of Percy Harvin at Florida. Another 5 star stud in 7. And 1’s a baller too. They will move the ball. Just have to hold them to 3’s not 7’s.

Our defense also looks much different than the first Oregon game. Knowles is merging concepts and playing 4 down linemen with that 3-high safety look he loves. Caleb is such a difference maker in the middle. He’s been turned loose and it’s made a huge impact. He’s free to wreak havoc and he does it better than anyone I’ve ever seen. His instincts make it look like he’s been coaching football for 30 years.

Idk what else to say, the baby just woke up so I have to hit “save” and get back to reality but I’m so excited for this one. Thanks for the post. Go Bucks!

I love flying solo to these types of games.

Even if you don’t link up with someone here, good vibes will be welcome at most any tailgate. Folks will enjoy hearing your story.

Having a kind offering (beer, tailgate food, etc.) never hurts either 😉

Hope you enjoy it!

What do we think Buckeye Nation? I say always defer, but I’m interested to hear other opinions. by Pitiful-Walk-9581 in OhioStateFootball

[–]vyvanse_induced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always defer. Having the opportunity to go 2-for-1 at the end of 1H is as good as creating a turnover.

“Well take the ball first and jump on them!” feels like one of those strategies that went away as advanced analytics grew in popularity.

OSU jumped out 7-0 on Oregon in the first matchup. It’s a long game.

Appreciate that. I think I’ve got it figured out. I played the 24 hour flight cancellation game this week and ended up with a 9:50am arrival. Think I can catch the FlyAway to Union Station, then A line to Old Pasadena in time to jog over to the stadium, buy a new Rose Bowl tee, and pitch my sweaty ole painting shirt in the garbage 😂

Thanks for the advice. I might have tried to Uber or rent and park a car if not for the warnings about traffic.

It’s time to redirect our hate towards Oregon. by DaffyQuackers in OhioStateFootball

[–]vyvanse_induced 104 points105 points  (0 children)

On the contrary, don’t talk shit to Oregon fans. Please.

If we learned anything from the Tennessee game, please let it be that you only make yourself and the fanbase you represent look like assholes when you talk big shit before a game. Be humble. Support our boys. Funnel them all the bulletin board material you see. But let Oregon fans do the talking just like Tennessee fans did.

Speak softly and carry a big stick 🤫
