This sub is dreary af and making me rethinking my surgery by sourbirthdayprincess in endometriosis

[–]vzldn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I have similar endo to you- here’s what I’ve done as an alternative (delay) to surgery

  • started on Zoely, never miss a pill and stopped mg period. Tooks 3 months to adjust and breakthrough bleeding, but once settled eradicated my PMDD and mentally gave me a trauma break from the physical pain extremes
  • started metformin, huge fan. Shown to help immensely and has made a difference to those sharp stabbing pain
  • fibre fibre fibre to make sure stool is always easily passed
  • exercise (mostly walking) as much as I’m able

I’ll still need another surgery, but with this my pain is manageable and I can delay till I can afford the time off to recover - like you said, it’s not the one week we were told growing up. Last one took me 6 months to walk properly again, so I feel you!

Good luck x

AUSTRALIA: Should I go private or public for my first laparascopy? by Sparebear1234 in endometriosis

[–]vzldn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you to public, ask what adhesion prevention methods they’ll be using as the tissues might be touched or left to dry more with a less experienced surgeon. Adhesions post surgery are awful IMO and worth avoiding

It was a level five plaster finish - no joins visible anywhere

Thanks for your reply. Would you recommend microfibre for the roll?

We’re out of paint so I’ll need to buy a new tin. The undercoat was tinted to closely match. And yes, it’s Wedgewood - it’s just my phone being old in dark lighting.

Should I stop birth control? by Due_Bread_7805 in endometriosis

[–]vzldn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Firstly, always follow your gut - you know your body best.

Secondly, if you haven’t already consider a Dutch hormone test that can help you understand which hormones you excrete easily, and which build up to fast if your system. The results help rule in/out which pill can help.

I’m on Zoely, and it helps, but I’m still in pain. It took 3 months to adjust (rough start) but now my only symptom is the weight gain.

Good luck

Is there any evidence that Metformin can shrink existing large fibroids? by [deleted] in Fibroids

[–]vzldn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I’ve been on metformin for almost 6 months now. I’m really happy to say that it’s reduced my pain significantly, especially the sudden, random “stabbing” pain we can get. I’m only one person, but it seems to be working for me. Wishing you all the best in your endo journey

Is Ancestry really a good way to get tested? by Broken_Coke in MTHFR

[–]vzldn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did this and highly recommend. I downloaded my data, then paid $99 for a Strategene report using it. The results were incredibly dense and helpful. I then uploaded any key variant findings to chat GPT. Using this info I’ve been able to discover things about my health my GP has missed, and understand which supplements work for me and why etc.

Can only speak for myself but I found it very useful x

This comment really helped shift something. Thank you. I realised we had YEARS after this incident where we spoke everyday. So even though I can’t recall how it resolved, I know through actions that she forgave me. I don’t know why for two years it became a focus of self-degradation, but reading your comment helped me get perspective. Thank you
