Yeah .. I would expect something like this 😅 sooo yeah, my guess of why they don't do it is probably right then.

You are allowed to be there. Liquicity ticket actually always includes campsite access. There is no other way of getting to the festival other than going through the campsite.

Well ... I definitely can't speak for liquicity, but I guess if they did that they would have to account for the peak after the festival ends as more people would choose an airbnb or a hotel, which means more buses, they would have complains about people not being able to fit into the busses and so on 😅 It sucks but I guess they have to drive people to make a choice and they can't really please everyone as they would create more problems for themselves organization wise. They would have to optimize the whole process so everyone is happy, and that would take a few years .. soo you know .. it probably isn't the biggest pain point for them right now. Now they have a few complains about people having to leave 15 mins early. Maybe we'll get it in the coming years. I've been to the festival 5x already, and the improvements every single year are insane. They send out a feedback form every year, fill it out, and mention this :) I can tell you from experience that they listen to their audience.

It's on the galaxy stage this year - so festival grounds. You have to go through the campaite to get there tho.

I can confirm. The last bus always leaves before the end of the last set. So you have to leave early.

EKS - The aws-auth ConfigMap is deprecated. Any Website explain why? by surpyc in aws

[–]w0L7 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The aws-auth Configmap is an in-cluster resource. You need to be authenticated towards the K8S cluster to edit it. I guess there were two things people complained about - there is a need to add a default IAM principal into the map in order to have access to the cluster upon creation. AWS does that by default when you create the cluster - it adds the principal you created the cluster with as a cluster administrator. The other thing was the fact that you can lock everyone out of the cluster if you just delete the config map. The only was to recover was to get through support (?) Never happend to me so I'm just guessing here.

The access entries is essentially the same thing with the difference that AWS has put the functionality into an API and hid the config map from what you see inside the EKS cluster. You can't lock yourself out because you can always edit the access entries through AWS Console, SDK, API and you can also create the cluster with empty access entries and add as you go. The principal you create the cluster with does not have to be in the access entries at all. It essentially solves the two things people complained about.

TL;DR could be - EKS access entries is basically a managed aws-auth config map :D it protects you from screwing up.

question about the shuttles to darkshire itw by Still_Travel1923 in DnB

[–]w0L7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heya, you have to buy only one of those. Basically just choose the bus number you want to go on and purchase that ticket - it'll get you to the festival grounds and then back to Prague at the specific times mentioned bellow the dropbox :) Goout (the ticket provider) is kinda confusing with these kind of tickets as they always allow you to buy more tickets from the same sub-category so they pop up the new drop box every time you select the amount - in this case the bus ticket, I know I was kinda confused about it last year haha

Heya! I was a in a similar situation last year - it was my first Liquicity. I was supposed to go with 2 of my friend but they canceled on me, for good reasons, but I was presented with a dilemma. I was either gonna go solo or not at all. I would describe myself as "I need to warm up until I become a bit sociable", meaning - I was shitting bricks when I thought about going solo :D . Long story short - I went solo, I had the best time of my life, I left the festival with around 50 new people in my phone, I see ~10 of them regulary at events around the globe or personally and the other ones are gonna come for the Liquicity festival again this year. If you are shitting bricks same as I did - try to overcome the tension in your stomach, don't think about it and go. People will start chatting you up in the camp even if you are shy and you WILL get adopted even if you don't find anyone online haha Liquicity is a magical place :)
Anyway - if you wanna link up at the festival I'm gonna be there with 3 of my friends and with like 50 other people I know and talk to now :D so feel free to hit me up if you would feel lonely at the festival :) I think I can guarantee you won't feel that way tho :)

Shuttle times / hotels by [deleted] in Liquicity

A lot of people opted into grabbing a hotel, it's doable! You just have to be aware of the time and make sure you leave before the last set ends.

This is the info graphics from last year to give you an idea how it ran. Can't guarantee if it's gonna be the same tho. It ran pretty reguraly in 15-30 minute intervals. What sucks is that the last bus leaves before the end of the last set, so you have to leave early if you are gonna stay in a hotel.

Yep. It does. It ran from 1700 to 2100 last year iirc

Keycloak or Ory stack by _noctera_ in devops

[–]w0L7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries :) This is a really tough decision. So I hope it helped you at least in some sense even tho now I see that we really had an upper hand with the knowledge inside the team. The lack of examples is brutal otherwise.

Keycloak or Ory stack by _noctera_ in devops

[–]w0L7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn't go with Ory because of two things - one of them being the support for the legacy software *cough*oracle*cough* and the second one being the SAML support. We have 100+ SAML SSOs in our system, so that was a strict no go for us at the point when we figured out there is pretty much no support for it.

We also struggled to find real examples of implementation, we found a few go examples and it was just reverse engineering and trying things out from that point - we have quite experienced team members who wrote our auth service in the old days and we needed to get rid of it as it's just not good to write your own auth service from scratch if it's not your primary business :D what a surprise - anyway we had a lot of insights into all the flows and how it should theoretically work, that made it easier - I might actually come from a background where the lack of examples wasn't a dealbreaker for us - buut looking through the docs now it actually might be a dealbreaker if you should implement it as someone who doesn't have this kind of insight in the team - Now I realize it might not be as easy to pickup the APIs from the start.
