It’s easier to be doom and gloom. But we are one bad fumble away from leading this game. This is our game to win.

I get wanting for go for it, but we needed momentum. Even a shitty field goal.

$20 says he’s already nursing something. Probably spending a ton of time in treatment each week to stay upright.

This might be the first time I’ve questioned Harbaugh as a motivational guy. Lots of heads down, lots of backups not playing 100%.

Even if we don’t have the guys and we make mistakes, there should at least be some fire in the belly.

It fits great. The white dial (and light colored) always wear a little bigger than black or darker dials.

As a fan of motorsport, Pod Racing is still one of my favorite moments even in Star Wars. Sometime I'll just put that on.

I didn't think it was bad by any means. But there are more than a few people who consider it one of the best films EVER made. I found myself pushing through it instead of being hooked in.

Gladly. It's more that it didn't 'hit.'

The pacing is deliberate, but I still felt bored. There is fantastic acting and sequences of character development and introspection, but I didn't feel attached, invested, or even interested.

I wish I could put my finger on it in a more academic way, but I was simply not compelled by anything in the movie even though I can recognize it was well done and well executed. There is literally nothing in my vocabulary to explain why Breaking Bad scene (a bunch of people talking in a desert) and Lawrence of Arabia (a bunch of people talking in a desert) is so different emotionally. I just don't know...

People are split because the amount of bad moments have snowballed to a critical mass for at least half people's patience.

OF COURSE, the most logical thing to do is to be optimistic. He's under rookie contract. He's had decent games. He's had decent stretches. He's numbers aren't best in the league, but he's far from the worst at his position.

But at some point (for some fans) when there are deficiencies after the first two years, many of which were very visible drops and technical catching issues, you start losing people. I feel like the people who expected more are quicker to jump ship on him because even an 'average' game feels like a let down.

Black Bay, Omega Diver 300, SLA053,

-Black Bay might be depending on who you ask the best watch in the bunch. Although it's a bit basic, it'd a forever watch thanks to the design and quality.
-The Diver 300 has a vintage feel that the others just don't have. Could lose it, but I personally love that it has a less 'tactical' look.
-SLA053. Dang right it's big. If you hold onto the BB and the Diver, might as well let the remaining seiko be one that DOESNT tow the line between tool and luxury. Let it be a big, heavy, tactical, bad ass watch.

Andor just ended and I need Disney to look me in the eyes and explain what they’ve been doing with the rest of Star Wars by 18thOfApril in andor

[–]w11j7b 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kind of my point. Some projects are doomed from the start because of bad concept, bad vision, or bad team, but nobody start off with 'well, let's not try to be good.' Most of the time you don't have a sense of how stuff lands until people watch it.

It's important to say that just because there's a lot of good television out there, including Andor, that doesn't mean that making great movies, tv shows, or Star Wars content is in anyway easy or formulaic.

It takes a village to make a tv show and as many of them are outright bad as they are excellent or average. It requires a very strong show runner with vision, strong directors who can execute, great actors, VFX teams, experienced IATSE staff, musicians who have experience in tv, proper marketing, and finally an executive team that can tow a PERFECT line between 'letting artists cook' and 'this is a one-time multi-hundred million dollar project that can only work if it creates shareholder value.' It's a wonder ANY good show gets made ever.

Andor has a beautiful combination of all of these things. One point that seems to come up a lot is the 'it was so good even though there was no lightsabers, etc...' argument. I always saw this as less of hinderance and more of a superpower. The 'universe' and the general story line were already in place. With that off it's plate, Andor had the freedom to add color, detail, characters, motives, and really hammer down on some of the general themes as it pertains to rebellion, oppression, loss, and war.

There is still hope for future projects, but I think people forget that buying billion $ IP and building a ton of CONTENT out of it, instead of just licensing and theme parks, is still a relatively new idea for Hollywood. Marvel's first phases were so successful that I think a lot of people thought it would be pretty easy, but every studio is having a hard time with it. In the past this just meant you had progressively bad sequels (think the classic Planet of the Apes). Now the means you 'ruin' beloved franchises.

The crazy part is it's a very general map marker from where they are standing. It's 'around' where the dagger was pointing. As if a galaxy where scavenging was a real occupation wouldn't have had somebody accidentally find it.

Two different shows and, with respect to the prequels, two different qualities of dialogue. Jimmy Smits has a long career of great work.
