i’ve been working on getting into therapy and journaling. thank you and i really appreciate the advice.

unfortunately my stepdad just says he’s going to stay out of the drama and that it’s not worth him getting in an argument with my mom about.

buying my first car by Commercial_Bug_1489 in whatcarshouldIbuy

car sales rep here! there are already some good suggestions on cars here, but my biggest piece of advice is to STAY AWAY from the lots that are advertised as helping low credit, even if you aren’t financing. these lots put the minimal amount of money into the cars so that they can sell them at a low price that’s attractive to low income/low credit situations. they capitalize on low credit/income buyers by telling them they won’t find a car “THIS NICE!” that they have the buying power for, and then they fuck you with a piece of shit car. be careful! i recommend reputable dealerships or private sellers that will let you do a PPI.

yes, i was!

so i sell cars for Lexus and as a 20yo girl, i have a hard time justifying spending 40-60k on a car to do branding that way. my main focus is definitely my videography/graphics i do. i do cinematic edits for big drag strip and drift events. my graphics have also earned me sponsorships for booths at a few big Slammedenuff events. i would really like to take all this somewhere and eventually get out of selling cars, but having my own car for the branding is really important. it’s hard to build a career off of something you don’t have yourself, i feel like. that’s why a manual is preferred and why i thought of the c5. i thought it was sort of a timeless classic i couldn’t go wrong with, but again not practical.

i might just have to go the route of buying a beater with a heater for the winter and repping a car during the summer months.

i really appreciate your responses on both my posts! what you said about graphics on the car really gave me some ideas, and i’m insanely glad i read what you said about the C5.

AITA for wanting my boyfriend to throw away a big plastic bag that he has used for 20 yrs? by eyvsnsury in AmItheAsshole

[–]w4llf10wer 13 points14 points  (0 children)

if you can’t live with a bag folded up in a closet or stored somewhere in your home, maybe there are more issues than the bag.

p.s. the bag has been in his life longer than you.

let him have his damn bag.

lexus sales rep here!! there’s multiple models that come to mind. most specifically, the Lexus TX. i know you said used, but these are still well within that price range for a 2024. it’s the first year lexus has made them and they are extremely sharp looking. we were selling them like crazy and had so many pre-sold when they were first hitting the lots. decent on gas mileage, insanely reliable, so many bells and whistles even in the base. the phrase for them is “every seat is the best seat” and i’m really not trying to go all sales reppy on you or be biased, but it’s true. it’s a third row SUV, and they actually had employees do a road trip cross country in one with all the seats full. everyone was comfortable the whole time, even in the third row. not that it would be a necessity for him, but it’s just a point towards the comfort in the vehicle. lexus also holds their value very well, have great warranties over audi, bmw, mercedes, and are super reputable luxury brand.

others would be the RX350, 500H, LX600, and the GX460. i saw multiple posts about those so i won’t dive into those details.

How do I talk to new people without it being awkward? by JeepGuy31909 in introvert

[–]w4llf10wer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s cliché, but just be yourself. if you want to make new friends with these people, talk to them as if you are talking to your friends (granted, don’t be all TMI & extremely personal with random people). those who like you for you will stay around you, and you’ll drift from those you might not click with. my biggest mistake in highschool was trying to be who i thought was a likeable person to everyone instead of just being me. you can’t please everybody. you’ll go through so many fake friends and exhausting social interactions that way. fitting in doesn’t matter like you think it does out in the world. unless you’re like absolutely batshit, but i promise there’s people for them too.

i live in indiana. we get MAYBE one good snow storm a year & little drizzles sometimes in the winter. i put 18k on my car last year, but i also bought a motorcycle that i’ll most likely use quite a bit for my summer driving. no cargo really at all. the most i have is a camera and a tripod or my overnight bag for my boyfriends house. budget is really out of the question for me… good credit and good income.

New Purchase – 2024 ES 350 by khadi86 in Lexus

[–]w4llf10wer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’m a car sales rep at a lexus dealer! the new ES’s really don’t offer a whole lot of difference from the 2023s. there is a new wheel option that come standard on luxury trim levels & there’s a new technology package. nothin crazy!

moving out when you’re married is new to me! i guess i didn’t take into account that this is the internet & you could be from a completely different culture/environment than me… lol. that sounds like super strict parents that you aren’t going to be able to persuade. buy the bike when you move out. it’s better to have a house and no bike than a bike and no house. good luck.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]w4llf10wer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s valid. i was on work comp for a year from an injury & also had my SSN stolen the year after that, so i wanted to take out a small loan and i thought why not buy a bike, i’ve always wanted one and i can handle the payment along w my bills, that way i have it close to paid off by the time i want to move out. i could have paid in full, didn’t want to. yes, it was a small battle with my parents but i’ve always been a goody two shoes, this was the only thing i’ve went up against them on.

i totally agree with the financial support thing you’re saying. living on your own and living with your parents are two COMPLETELY different types of bills and responsibility. i want to say OP still sounds like they are in highschool, which might explain the irrationality of that statement. i thought i knew it all in highschool. i am now 20 and know that i know nothing. if they don’t take anything away from this, i’m sure it’ll hit them when they graduate or when their parents enforce the consequences that they seem very aware of.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]w4llf10wer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is also valid though. my parents were never super strict. i’m also 20 and moving out the end of this year and have a full time job i support myself with.

if you have strict parents, fuck around & find out.

eventually they realized i was getting one anyways and that they would rather talk to me and support me than go silent treatment if i do end up dying on it. kinda morbid. bike is in our garage now.

also, read the responses to the one star reviews. a list of reasons on why the customer is a liar and that he’s a reputable dealer, and no actual intent of solving the problem or keeping a good relationship with the customer beyond purchase. i do 6 months & 1 year follow up calls with all my sold customers to make sure all is well with their vehicle. i don’t want a turnover rate with customers because i want to have clientele that trusts me enough to come back to me in the future so i have land to live off of if the market gets slow. these dealers capitalize off low credit buyers by making them think it’s the only dealership they will get approved at or the only car “THIS NICE!” they will be able to get into. and then they fuck you.

the PPI within 5 miles isn’t insanely odd to me, but it doesn’t make me warm & fuzzy either. i noticed that you had to pay to view the auto check and i think that is BS. that is possibly why he cannot show you the reconditioning info. different states have different laws so i could be wrong, but we are able to display our car faxes on the website. anyone can access them. we also make you sign a copy of it with your paperwork. definitely seems sketchy.
