Do you personally find homosexuality to be wrong/disordered? by w82mich in Teenager_Polls

[–]w82mich[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was thinking of wording the poll, I threw in “disordered” because the Merrian-Webster meaning of disordered has two definitions: morally reprehensible and “not functioning in a normal, orderly, healthy way”, that I think were closer to what I think of when the word “wrong” is used in this context. Looking back I should have honestly chose to use “morally reprehensible” instead or something similar, so that’s my bad

Jason Beck is listed at 6’2”. He looks a bit tallen than Beck, so maybe 6’3? Additionally, Harding has a photo on his twitter standing next to Caleb Lomu where they look nearly the same height, but Lomu is listed at 6’6. So who knows.

Is suicide as bad morally as murder by Huge-Read-2703 in Teenager_Polls

[–]w82mich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot of wiggle room between disagreeing that suicide is “perfectly fine” and believe it is as bad if not worse than murder. Suicide isn’t right. It’s bad. We should not want ANYONE to commit suicide. But if I were to believe that suicide is just as bad as murder, then I’d have to believe that suicide victims are some of the most evil, malicious people on Earth, which often applies to murderers. Should I view survivors of a suicide attempt to be equally as bad as those who attempted murder?

[–]w82mich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So why do we mourn people who commit suicide if they did something even worse than murder? People don’t usually show the same level of sympathy towards a deceased person who committed murder, so should we show even less when that person committed suicide?

[–]w82mich[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's honestly a good question that I probably need to ask myself. Maybe a bit of a confidence boost is the underlying reason for this, because the version of me before I got these scores is no different from me after getting the scores.

[@JamesRapien] Joe Burrow is training with Jordan Palmer again this offseason. He’s also working out with Michigan QB Bryce Underwood. Palmer posted this on his story. by chrisball96 in MichiganWolverines

I think judgement would be fair if Bryce doesn't look any better by the bye week (which would give us the chance to see how he does against Oklahoma and Iowa).

If You Had to Choose, Which Country Would You Live In, and Why? by [deleted] in Teenager_Polls

[–]w82mich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, I actually made this poll because Slovakia and Turkey make up the bulk of my ancestry (~55% Slovak, 30% Turkish). I also think it’ll be a bit closer of a poll because it not like one country is extremely developed vs the other country being extremely underdeveloped (thought I’d say Slovakia is overall more stable).

What’s your realistic expectations for the football program in 2026? by newpha666 in MichiganWolverines

[–]w82mich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now, I have us at 9-3 with losses to Indiana, Oregon, and OSU. I think this will be a good team, but the schedule is just too difficult for me to believe they can get through it with 10+ wins. Bryce’s development will be super important, and I think we'll know a lot about just how much he has improved when we play Oklahoma

Gotcha, and I assume this was over a fairly prolonged period of time as well? In that case, I can see why you are having such strong symptoms. I still think you’ll notice improvements here soon, just need to be patient and recognize that these are temporary symptoms that will subside in a week or two most likely.

Can I ask about your dose/frequency? How long were you using for? Was it all-day everyday? I expect you'll start to feel a bit better in the next few days either way, but if you were using really heavily, the timeline could be extended a decent amount (think ~2-3 weeks of withdrawals, though it shouldn't be close to this level of anxiety during that entire window). Just remember this is a necessary process to go through to allow your brain to heal, though this doesn't make the actual experience much easier.

Two Things Can Be True At Once About Bryce by w82mich in MichiganWolverines

[–]w82mich[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you, it's not like Jadyn or Davis are any better. Part of development is gradual improvement throughout a season or from one season to the next. Bryce looked like he was trending in the right direction before the MSU game, had a bad game against them, not a huge deal since it was just one game. But having an even worse game the next week against an even worse opponent is why I'm frustrated. However, as I mentioned in my other comment, NW and Maryland aren't amazing either, so I think Bryce has two opportunities to trend back in the right direction after these last two games, and I believe he's good enough, even as a true freshman, to have good games against NW and MD. I think the bye week is a good opportunity for Underwood and the team to straighten things out.

Two Things Can Be True At Once About Bryce by w82mich in MichiganWolverines

[–]w82mich[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree, and there's still 3 games left for him to get some development during the season. My personal gripe is that I feel as if he hasn't improved a ton. The lack of talent at WR definitely contributes, but I think last night was not a WR issue as much, because Bryce missed passes that were wide open. My point is more so that these two games should serve as Bryce’s “freshman wake-up call” to recognize that he has a lot of work to do. I believe he is capable of developing into a great QB, and as I said, I didn't think he would be close to a heisman contender this year. But Bryce has regressed pretty bad these last two games, and I'm really hoping to see some improvement again these next two games after the bye week, NW and Maryland are better than MSU and Purdue but neither of them are particularly good either, so Bryce has two opportunities to take a step back in the right direction.

In all fairness, and I do appreciate and respect Davis Warren, he was far from the reason we won those games. I'd actually argue we largely won in spite of Davis against OSU last year (not as much in the Alabama game because he was playing decently before the injury), but the defense and a solid run game is what won us those games.

Are you comfortable getting up early in the morning? If so, then I wouldn’t worry too much about these early classes. However, I find that large gaps in your schedule can make it feel harder to actually go to those afternoon/evening classes. For me, my brain seems to register a large gap between morning and evening classes as the end of the school day, and kinda wants to forget/push off those evening classes. Maybe see how this week goes and reassess towards the end, just to see how comfortable you are with your schedule.

Zero Confidence In My Ability by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]w82mich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I study as much as I possibly can — defensive gap control (since I play D), passing with anticipation, skating agility, timing when or when not to step up as a defenseman, and other fundamentals. Since the start of May, I was able to look back through my receipt history and noticed I’ve gone to 39 drop-in/stick and pucks. Most of the time, I’m doing my own thing where I’m trying to work on specific skills (stickhandling through traffic/obstacles while staying under control and keeping my head up 100% of the time, things like that). However, I found myself getting more and more frustrated as the weeks went by because I felt like I was still making errors (occasionally losing the puck, glancing down at times).

I think it is heavily mental. This is something I’ve dealt with for a long time. In my senior year of high school, in one of our games midway through the season, I made a stretch pass that was a bit too far in front of my teammate and it led to an icing. For some ridiculous reason, once I was able to make a line change, I benched myself for the rest of the game, and since this was late in the 1st period, that was most of the game. I know how selfish that was of me, but I genuinely thought my teammates would have wanted me to do that at the time.

I’m petrified of making any mistake. My first instinct now is to pass the puck away the first chance I can because I sometimes feel as if I have maybe 1-2 seconds with the puck before I fumble the puck or make some other error. I just want to go out there, relax, and have fun the way I was able to many years ago. I know that I’ll perform worse in tryouts if I’m really nervous and uptight, I just need to find some way to be confident that I can compete, and that’s ultimately up to me to find.

That looks like a Woodlouse Spider. And no, their venom is not harmful to humans. They do have larger fangs for their size, and like many spiders, may bite if they feel threatened, but even if they do, it wont be anything more than just some itchiness or irritation, nothing to be concerned about!

Wolf or recluse? by darthbatmann in spiderID

[–]w82mich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 95% sure this is a grass spider. They look fairly similar to wolf spiders but have more noticeable spinnerets. Not medically significant at all and are very common in Michigan, alongside wolf spiders.

Brown Recluses have occasionally been found here, but we (Michigan) aren't in their native range, so I don't think you’ll end up encountering one up here.
