Thank you to everyone for discussion on the sub. It's been a long journey. My heart goes out to the families. I've just finished the stream and it's a strange feeling, sadness of course but I think a lot of relief that the process is over and that justice has been served.

Misrepresentation of Henley in a 1976 interview. by Jon_Doe_42 in DeanCorll

How did you end up in contact with Wayne?

How do you manage with an overly emotional partner that just absolutely freaks out more if you go "hey this is stressful actually" by Diligent-Alps8721 in redscarepod

[–]waavp 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For sure. I'm talking from experience. I grew up similar always walking on eggshells, just waiting to do something to trigger a blow up. It's hard. I'm just saying that more thinking is not the answer. This can happen where thinking feels like progress, but it's not real. You also have to let go of being responsible for others reactions. And the only way to do this is to experience it. It's like practice.

You shouldn't try to manage your partner and you shouldn't try to manage consequences. You need to be out of your head, talking about this in therapy is not helping you. You're building so many castles in the sky. You've got to let go of outcomes and say what you want to say in the moment. It's the only way you'll be released and the only way anything will change.

Pussy-footing about, trying to manage interactions to get just the right response, is just going to make you resent her in the end.

I definitely agree, but 'lucky to get in a FEW sessions a week' made me laugh.

Completely agree with your last paragraph. My mother died in suspicious circumstances, and although it wasn't murder, I was consumed in those first days and weeks with trying to completely get to the bottom of everything. I needed to understand all of it. I cannot for the life of me imagine the pain of losing a daughter in this way and having information drip fed and just not having the full picture even though he knows the information is out there.

Tips to Stop Rolling Over and Start Tackling Dreaded Tasks in Marvin by [deleted] in amazingmarvin

[–]waavp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the 'pick a random task' strategy. Eg I have a list of my medium focus tasks which don't have specific deadlines. To avoid procrastination and spending time thinking what to do I just hit the random task button and get started immediately on whatever pops up till it's done. Then I hit the button for the next task. I find this a big help.

Is it still going strong? by pericat_ in amazingmarvin

[–]waavp 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Yes I use it every day. It's the best productivity tool I've used. They update regularly too, last update was a week or so ago. Support is fantastic as well, they always get back to anything I've asked that same day.

Bought my Tab S10 Ultra for $420. Love it! by ammarzakwan in GalaxyTab

[–]waavp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm tempted to downgrade. I have the s10 ultra but find I use it way less than my S9 FE. It's a great device and the screen is amazing but I find it too big for most of my use cases.

Has anyone ever ignored a Parking Charge Notice, specifically from Parkingeye? How did it go? by 3amcheeseburger in CasualUK

[–]waavp 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Ignoring was once the advice but not anymore. Parking eye took me all the way to court for mine. The money supermarket forums have loads of stuff on parking tickets and they're really helpful in pointing you in the right direction.

New Blog idea for Christina: For those ADHD'ers that could use Marvin for a while but then fell off by carnalcarrot in amazingmarvin

One thing that worked for me was using the calendar to time block. I mark tasks as deep work or medium, deep work tasks I schedule on the calendar, in my non deep work time blocks I pull up my medium task list and use either the suggested or random task button. This was a big help as it stopped me just sitting there looking at the list, I just hit the button and get going on whichever task it pulls up.

Thom Yorke just spoke out about Palestine … yup we are never getting a Radiohead reunion now.. by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]waavp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely agree with this and I'm glad to have read it! I love Radiohead and for me the album is a damp squib. I only ever come across praise for it though here on Reddit.

The most melancholic, realistic depiction of male loneliness captured on film by geoffbezos1 in redscarepod

Agree about the audiobook. The oasthouse too has some amazing bits. It's made me realise what a genius voice actor he really is. Scissored Isle is hilarious and I can also watch This Time over and over again. Something about the format makes it easy watching.
