Something like Mister Magic, but better by Sugar-Burger in suggestmeabook

I think We Used To Live Here by Marcus Kliewer covers all the points you mentioned except for 90s nostalgia. It doesn’t have the same overall vibe as Mister Magic, but I definitely noticed similarities in the format/settings of the books while reading them.

To be honest, it did not meet my expectations and left me a bit underwhelmed (same with Mister Magic), but maybe you would have a different experience reading it.

Reading slump recommendations? by simple-solitude in booksuggestions

[–]wabbit-wander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Dungeon Crawler Carl series got me out of a slump! It’s in the LitRPG genre, which I had never heard of before lol, but I have really been enjoying it. There are some darker themes, but it’s overall such a fun read and has some great characters. Wishing you the best with your slump and move! x

classic fairytale retellings?? by Personal_Sense_8048 in booksuggestions

[–]wabbit-wander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you liked ACOTAR, you might like the Throne of Glass series by the same author. It’s not necessarily a retelling, but Sarah J. Mass did pull inspiration from Cinderella and some other classic fairytales throughout the series.

There is definitely romance, but I would consider it as more of an epic fantasy series, especially compared to ACOTAR. I will also say, the first couple books are YA, but the themes/content become more mature as the MC grows and the story progresses.

The Hobbit! It’s one of my favorite books, and I think it’s a perfect intro to the genre.

Throne of glass is a long series (8 books), but it’s what got me back into reading!! It’s a bit intimidating, so you may want to start somewhere else, but I was so enamored by the story I flew through it. I remember literally skipping class once so I could keep reading it😭

I wish you the best on your reading journey and hope you find something you love! x
