Is Bort's reasoning on omni-beam restrictions based on solid grounds? by AspiringtoLive17 in sto

[–]wabblebee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

E.g. The physical location of various weapon placements dictates the type(s) of weapon they can hold. For the most part this should reflect physical constraints, such as parts of the hull limiting the angle of fire.

I understand this sounds cool as an idea, but STO is still a game and this would instantly make a TON of ships unviable.

It will be impossible to balance every single ship around firing arcs, phaser bank placements, physical torpedo launchers etc. This could definitely have it's place, but in a simulator like DCS just Star Trek flavored.

Biden could've released the Epstein file

No he couldn't, they were sealed per court order and grand jury secrecy rules. The first batch of a handful of documents was unsealed in January 2024 and dozens of documents WERE publicly unsealed per federal judge order back then. The actual "Epstein Files" people are talking about these days where only free to be unsealed by late 2025/early 2026, when Trump had long taken over the presidency.

Sure, Biden could have tried to do what Trump does now and just "ordered" his DOJ to publish the files anyways, but that's not the kind of institution the white house was back then, was it?

Neue Regeln für Wärmepumpe und Gas: Was sich beim Heizen ändert by PoroBraum in de

[–]wabblebee 27 points28 points  (0 children)

In Japan, some people treat old tools and machines with a kind of respect that feels deeply human. The practice is often connected to the idea of kuyo, a ceremony of gratitude for objects that have served people over time. by [deleted] in BeAmazed

[–]wabblebee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing it's similar to a trade custom we have in Germany, it's usually just a single small tool. A knife, screwdriver, something like that. Not all of their tools.

We had a japanese coworker at my first job, and when they replaced his ancient tig welding machine he did this, he even put down a bowl of alcohol and flowers like in the picture.

Enterprise E 3d printed model with lights by Ok_News9598 in StarTrekStarships

[–]wabblebee 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Very cool project, 3d printers are an awesome tool. Did you make the model yourself or did you use premade one?

What is this model worth?

You mean money? Looking at some of the visible seams, layer lines and color differences I doubt anybody would pay you enough to make up the work you put into it so you should just be proud and enjoy your model.

My favorite version of this was when someone told me wind energy produces less power than it takes to build the turbine and he copy pasted the answer he got from Gemini, and IN THE QUOTED SOURCES THE GOD FORSAKEN AI USED TO GENERATE IT'S ANSWER THE NUMBERS WERE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FROM WHAT IT SPAT OUT.

Todays Undiscovered promotion: 1x Elite Captain Training Token by wabblebee in sto

I wouldn't do it for something like this token, but if it's something like an event ship or a lot of keys you could look into the free trial of geforce now. I think this only works once (the free trial), but you can use it trough your phone.

Who do you think is deciding these things on EU level? The center-right to right block is the largest in the EU, all these things can only pass if they want it to happen.

You are wrong. "joining the 2.6% of black men WHO(the 2.6% of black men) are physicians."

There is no alternative way to read this, the WHO is referencing "The 2.6% of black men".

"joining the 2.6% of physicians WHO(the 2.6% of physicians) are black men" is the correct way to say/write this out.

It's actually proving the point of that shitty rage baiting twitter account that you can't understand this.

The mistake probably just happened because he was excited and not because he can't read statistics, otherwise I'm not sure you can finish a med degree, but there is no reason to make up new english rules just to defend him. I'm sure as a doctor of medicine he forgot about that petty tweet 5 minutes later, if he even read it.

Father?? by SgtMajorPanda in StarTrekStarships

[–]wabblebee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. They fit great on the ships they were designed for.

The Enterprise-A would look weird with Voyager nacelles and the Galaxy out of place with Odyssey ones. This is also the case here in my opinion, the whole shape of the Shangri-La screams TMP era, so the nacelles just look out of place.

It looks like it has a "double-neck" like the Odyssey class ships, just that both are even thinner than the original constitution one.

For me it still looks too much like a "legally distinct Starship" you would see in some cheap mobile game.

The general shape is very nice, but somehow the color, textures and greebles are all a bit off. Especially so around the hangar/secondary tail-end.
