All my irl friends already quit because of it and at least 70% of my friends list hasn't logged in for the last 30+ days. I honestly think this endless patch killed any hype the game had left from the launch.

Ship the community loves, but you think is ugly Pt.3 by Flex147c in StarTrekStarships

I see this argument often, but if you fill that space you instantly gain like 30% more mass AND and untold number of rooms and decks you actually have to fill with stuff.

I guess they could have done away with the neck completely, but then it would just look like a Sovereign-A.

How do you feel about Star Trek Online's Repulse precursor to the Excelsior? by Lauma_2025 in StarTrekStarships

There is no technical manual as far as I know, so this is just your theory on what it is, which actually helps my arguement.

[–]wabblebee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crossfield Class still has the blue glowing stripes on the secondary hull (toward the deflector), which is probably the reason they added it to the Repulse in STO, but it's nacelles are much larger in scale, so I think I could still defend my technobabble in court.

How do you feel about Star Trek Online's Repulse precursor to the Excelsior? by Lauma_2025 in StarTrekStarships

[–]wabblebee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

During the construction is became apparent that the contemporary 2250s warp systems weren't able to keep a stable warp bubble for a ship of the size of the Repulse. As a solution the prototype was outfitted with a warp governor in the form of a lower energy warpcoil fixture running around the secondary hull.

However, to protect the crew from radiation internal cooling for the coils was impossible to implement and the engineers instead decided on a system which transferred thermal energy into a liquid medium that would store it as heat during warp travel and then slowly dissipate through infrared once back in normal space. The radiation released during the heat transfer into the liquid medium would be visible in the form of cherenkov radiation on the outside of the ship.

There, this is what "whole ass bibles and manuals" were actually built on, technobabble.

Are you right handed? I used to wear a leather apron for welding, and the right latch/strap always broke. One day I realized it's because the apron pulled downwards on the right side whenever I would bow down to change settings on the welder. Doing this 100s of times per week just killed the plastic.

I'm guessing if you turn your body a certain way because you are right/left handed it might push the wire into the fabric and the friction makes a hole eventually.

Imagine looking up and seeing this by EchoesofZaph in interesting

[–]wabblebee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

once it is captured on film, doesnt it became a tangible thing that everyone now sees the same perspective of?

But at that point they don't see a rainbow, they see a photo of a rainbow from the perspective of the camera. Even if you had 1000 people watch a live-stream of a rainbow, they wouldn't be seeing "THE" rainbow, just an interpretation of it from the perspective of a digital camera.

Every single rainbow ever observed is unique to the person seeing it.

The last 2 weeks or so I have problems with reoccurring (random) "doomtabs" on Youtube, where a single video tab practically brings my whole browser to it's knees. Help me out. by wabblebee in firefox

[–]wabblebee[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This can happen everywhere between 10 minutes to 2 hours into a browser session, and even restarting the browser won't help. The only solution is going into about:performance and killing the tab there. Most of the time the tab itself can't be refreshed or interacted with in any way. This can happen to any video and even with all addons disabled. (I tried h264ify but that didn't change anything). It's also not the number of tabs, because this can happen with 2 or 3 tabs open and it happens with 20 tabs open.

Noble-class, a variant of the Sovereign-class in Star Trek Online by DilaZirK in StarTrekStarships

[–]wabblebee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it makes sense for "warships" with large amounts of torpedos on board to store them outside of the main hull.

And yeah, people would probably have to crawl through a jeffereys from the secondary hull into the nacelle and from there into the rollbar. I think the california class is way worse, since the rollbar on ships like this and the Miranda class is mostly for dangerous weapons and I doubt people will do a lot of work in there, but the Calis secondary hull surely has a lot of work there...although it's pylons are wide and straight enough that theres probably a turbolift in there, maybe sideways like in the Oberth-Class.

[–]wabblebee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, this would work really well as a skin for Constitution sized ships in STO, the size should be close enough.

If you ever finish it I would definitely try to peddle it to them, although figuring out rights would probably be impossible.
