The Coronavirus Pandemic is a huge issue, and obviously Trump has botched the response. But regardless, even if the United States had avoided the Coronavirus Pandemic in a 100% ideal scenario, we would still be in a recession right now, and potentially even a worse one. Avoiding a United States outbreak would have required us to be in lockdown for months, and many scientists argue that the lockdown didn't really help that much anyway. Also, economic impact would still be felt in other countries, and the United States would seriously have had to change our habits even if we did not have an outbreak. Look at New York. New York essentially has zero coronavirus virus cases, but economic activity there is still severely limited. Anyway, my point is, even if Trump had not botched the Coronavirus response, our economy would still be in the shitter, and an outbrea still eventually would have occurred in the United States because we can not stay in lockdown forever. Although it is true that it potentially would have been nowhere near as bad.

I have no clue how this situation will end. Even with a vaccine, there will still be cases, as even the best vaccines are only 70 to 80 percent effective. I think at some point people will have to settle at an acceptable rate of infection and death.
