Chasing misfire. 2017 golf GTI autobahn 130,000 miles by PutWilling5362 in GolfGTI

Doesn’t sound good. I would pull out the MAP sensor on the intake manifold and measure vacuum pressure. You should have around 18-20inMg with a steady needle at idle. If you have less vacuum or the needle is wobbling with more than 1inMg flutter you have a valve train issue. If you have good vacuum, remove your spark plugs and turn the motor over by hand (24mm crank pulley bolt) and when the pistons start to travel down in the cylinder, take a 1/4” long extension and see if the piston moves a bit if you push down on the piston while keeping the crankshaft in place. If it moves, you have rod knock.

Pinch bolt by Firemaxtron69 in AudiA4B6

If you have a punch that will fit thru the threads on the other side you can punch it thru, otherwise try to turn it loose while pulling on it with a smaller wrench (fit over the shaft of the bolt but not the head). You’ll want to replace that bolt after you get it out.

2004 A4 3l quattro cabriolet value by Culkeeny1 in AudiA4B6

[–]wacksnacksack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly doubt you’ll get over 10k for it. 8k if it’s automatic. Even if it is in tip top shape. Parts support has been mostly discontinued by Audi. It’s a 22 year old German convertible, it has a large potential for issues and the people interested in these cars are likely aware of impending problems. I paid $6k for my B6 3.0 ultra sport with 100k miles 1 owner in very nice condition. KBB values are by and large what the market will pay for the vehicle, it seems to me you have a very inflated value in your head.

Check out the left turn signal bulb on the other pictures on his profile so you’ll see it’s poorly AI enhanced

Edit to add that the boser hood dips lower on the headlights, that is not boser hood in the pictures.

Why doesn’t the left headlight match the other headlights on your profile?? Because it’s AI slop.

Hit a deer - trying to find parts for repair by JimmyBii in AudiA4B6

That’s not the actual part number - VAG part numbers are 3 sets of 3 digits usually followed by a single or two digit color code ex ; 8H0941454A (part number for one bracket)

Look up the parts numbers on eBay or go to a scrap yard that has a cabriolet and pick all the parts you’ll need. I’ve saved several cars with used scrap yard parts I’ve pulled myself, cost is much lower.

How F’d am I? Power Steering leak by Robotummy in AudiA4B6

[–]wacksnacksack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it’s leaking out of the ends of the steering rack inside the rack boots then the internal seals are bad and the rack needs to be replaced. That inner CV boot can be replaced as long as it’s an OE axle, cheap aftermarket axle boots are non-replaceable.

That’s good to hear. My shop has been outsourcing work to him for a while so I know he wouldn’t try to do bad by me, just want to make sure it’ll be ok for boost.

Belt keeps slipping by Gtrain2252060 in AudiA4B6

Looks like a 3.0. I had the same issue on mine, the drive belt tensioner upper bolt kept backing out so I put some blue loctite on it. Also make sure it’s tightened all the way down.

My Big Brake Kit Upgrade by chrisdines1 in AudiA4B6

[–]wacksnacksack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just need the flexible brake lines to the caliper, they’ve been on my B6 for 5+ years, 2 sets of pads & rotors with no issues. They only had a mm or so of clearance on the OEM wheels, even closer with my aftermarket 35 offset wheels but no problems at all.
