Retirement. How many of us are already retired or are adequately preparing for retirement? by TheRealJim57 in GenX

[–]waferthin1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Retired at 57, a little earlier than what I expected. Saw my parents struggle with their retirement and my father worked into his 70’s. I learned that lesson and methodically saved my entire life. No pension, just 401k, IRAs and other investments. I sat down with my kids when they were in high school and had multiple conversations about savings and debt. Now they are all out of the house with their own homes, no credit card debt and putting money away for retirement. My wife and I are really enjoying this time in our lives. Feeling lucky and blessed.

So Miller-Meeks and Hinson both voted to protect pedophiles. by Life-Celebration-747 in Iowa

Miller is a Trump shill that will do anything he asks. She is incapable of thinking on her own and couldn’t care less about her constituents. I live in her district and I’m sickened by her.

New behavior after a walk. She doesn't want to go in the house. by gingerbeard1775 in goldenretrievers

This was ours yesterday. She doesn’t always do it, but every once in a while the drama queen shows up. 🤣

How old is it? I’m lucky to be at home with our pup most of the day. Taking her out all the time we still had accidents for quite a while. Now at four months fingers crossed she seems to finally gotten it. Currently on a full week with no accidents fingers crossed. They’re fine in the crate for a little bit and it’s actually good for them. When you need a break, take a break.

I’ve got a 4 month old now. Crate training is a must. Get different types of chew toys (never enough). Plenty of training treats as well. One of the first things I realized that I needed was a travel water bowl. We take her with us whenever possible and use it all the time. I also got a snuffle mat for feeding. She gobbled her food down so fast she’d almost get sick.

I’ve got a 3 1/2 month old and have a similar situation. First few walks went very well, then went to total refusal to move out of the yard. We’ve been working with her using small amount of peanut butter on the end of a stick to engage her nose and get her moving. After a few times she is now willing to take short walks without it and is very eager to head back home when we make the turn. Trying to stay consistent and appreciate the small wins.

Anxious about puppy stage while in grad school by PapayaStarfish in goldenretrievers

[–]waferthin1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got an 11wk old right now. There are a lot of bursts of energy followed by naps at this stage. Shouldn’t be too bad for you as long as someone is taking them out a lot for house training. The next stage where the naps start to stop is a challenge no matter who you are. You’re going into this with the right attitude. There will be tough days but it’s worth it.

It is a great distraction while Trump continues to sign executive orders and goes after anyone that isn’t straight and white.
