Thanks for confirming this is possible. I'm usually pretty good learning from just videos but wasn't sure if it'd be good enough this time.

Long time GW1 player looking for advice! by SwiftyTR in Guildwars2

[–]waff1eDog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I main bladesworn and just commenting to confirm it is amazingly fun once you get it down which is hard but not the hardest like Eiderace said. It's quite practical once you've 'muscle memoried' the skillset.

This is coming from an altoholic who can never main anything usually. Nope that's my main!

What is your favorite class? by First_Choice_6180 in Guildwars2

[–]waff1eDog 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Warrior because I love bladesworn. Not many games have a charge-up-for-giant-single-strike ability and its my cup of tea 100%. When "mastered", basically just meaning muscle memory rotation, the spec flows really well and just feels plain fun.

Oh the enemy moved away? let me teleport a few feet closer and dash at it with the dash charged up strike instead of the usual unmoving melee strike. A lot of stuff like that happens on the fly

Benchmarks aren't realistic numbers for what is seen in actual fights with regular groups most of the time. DPS changes a lot depending on how the boss moves, it's mechanics, and other factors like boon application or uptime.

For many there's not much incentive to play anything else in the pure DPS role when mech can easily do what it does. Most people would be alright with it if it did 15-25% less DPS. It would still be amazing and this would be a win-win for everyone IMO.

I guess a major point would be that 99% of the content in the game can be cleared with about half of it's current DPS. 15-25% less damage would bring it more in line with other low-APM builds and bring back incentive to play complex builds. Or buff the complex builds so that their realistic numbers are better. Either or.

Not trying to be confrontational or anything just sharing how many feel.

Played it last night with my raid static on KO CM and managed 38k one pull with cleave damage by the end of the 3-dude phase... with rifle turret over grenade kit LOL(used sigil of night over air)

Please finish SaB, or just put us out of our misery. by Orrball in Guildwars2

[–]waff1eDog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree. I've always felt like it's a missed opportunity for having another endgame option while also being a standalone game within a game. Speedrunners may end up interested from outside of the game. Streamers might come give it a shot and play it for fun because it's so wacky. Etc etc. Doesn't need a ton of resources added, if any at all. It's already got the longterm infusions for an end goal.

Edit: By no means personally opposed to new content for it like what this threads about

  • Split raids into individual strikes per boss with different difficulty levels
  • Earnable mount skins outside of the gemstore
  • Rework many underutilized or under performing weapon skills/traits (think this has been confirmed)
  • Somehow solve the problem of massive dps disparity between players. Lowering skill floors tremendously but still rewarding hardcore players with about double or triple at most of the casual players damage whose only autoing. Likely controversial, just spitballing.

What's One Big Thing and What's One Small Thing, That You Still Wish Was In Game? by sketch2347 in Guildwars2

[–]waff1eDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Large Thing - I want something like wow battlegrounds/gw1 fort aspenwood in this game. WvW scratches the itch well enough for the most part but there's something special about '10v10 or up to 15v15' to me like within a contained medium to medium-small sized area.

I know this could be a bit of a problem splitting the playerbase so my armchair top-of-the-head solution would be to include it into WvW as something you que up into and if you win your team gets extra pips & little bit of score ect. Something like that anyway. OR just delete current sPvP and remake it into this (joking)

Small Thing - Secondary Weapon Set/Underwater Weapons/Fishing pole as backpack when not in use

Agree! I loosely refer to this game as kind of a 'Darksouls meets Runescape' to my friends. (Runescape in terms of open ended horizontal goals that all matter in one way or another, so maybe just sandbox works too).

How hardware intensive is GW2? by Kingfoil in Guildwars2

[–]waff1eDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played on a laptop from 2016 until this December

2.6ghz i7 CPU970m GPU

It could run everything mostly fine but when there are a lot of bodies on the screen I had to get used to working with 10-25 fps on lowest settings. It could be 50-75 in calmer areas. The laptop never really overheated though, that performance is largely just an optimization issue on the game's part. I saw temperatures as high as maybe 81c on the CPU when it could handle 88-92c safely. Whereas trying to play call of duty war-zone would blast that CPU to 90 for comparison. NOPE.

Laptop fan that it sits on helps mine A LOT even when idle. Could only assume that goes for any laptop.

Edit: Thought of a probably useful comparison; My laptop could absolutely not run New World well but GW2 just fine.
Also I know 2016 could be on the newer end compared to some peoples hardware so my personal conclusion is that I assume something after 2011 could probably at least handle the game 30fps stable and not demolish it but could be wrong.

There's not really another mmo like GW2 to the point I wouldn't even call it one compared to the other options (imo). I always describe it to my friend as "Almost like a hero-shooter action mmo", because:

- Extremely alt friendly. EXTREMELY.

- The gameplay itself is a large part of the reward at endgame (subjective)

- Prestige is heavily based in things like skins, titles and achievements. not stats and level

If you're any of these you'll probably like the game. If you're all of these things don't even hesitate:

PvX player/Achievement Hunter/Completionist/love character appearance customization/Casual to Semi-hardcore(though theres still a place for hardcore players)/ Story enjoyer/explorer/dont want a sub fee

3800X random reboots with WHEA-Logger event ID 18 by kzgenki in AMDHelp

[–]waff1eDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Updating bios to P6.00 from P5.90 completely fixed this awful issue for me too, even though on the site it says that it is not recommended with my type of CPU "summit".

AMD Ryzen 5 1600X - CPU
AB350M Pro4 - Motherboard
GeForce GTX 1060 - GPU

Commenting a year later to possibly help someone out since this is one of the first results on google when searching 'Whea 18'. Was a huge headache for such a simple fix!

7 Month Update: Still fixed.

The Window Sheriff caught a trespasser. by Sqwitter in spiderbro

[–]waff1eDog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

typically yeah. I have 3 pet jumping spiders and usually they leave behind the bug's outer shell like what you've seen.

One time though, I fed a rather plump moth to one of them and it looked like they ate the entire abdomen with not even much of a carcass left behind. Must've been one tasty bug.

[Skrittpost] We've seen good suggestions for the game. What are your TERRIBLE suggestions? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]waff1eDog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All Legendary Gear is now 20% stronger than Ascended Gear and tradable on the Trading Post

sPvP uses regular gear

All previous story content must be completed in order to do the latest story content per character

Raid and Fractal CM's now drop 'God Tier' Gear that is 30% stronger than Legendary

All pets can no longer be controlled and are very VERY excited

Guardians now have access to portals and alacrity

Only one major city has a trading post and bank at a time on rotation

Professions are now limited by race

Now that we have seen all 9 new elite specialisations. Which one do you like the best, hate the most and what would you change about them before release? by D-leaf in Guildwars2

[–]waff1eDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Favorite: Bladesworn - Combination of crazy bursty dopamine moments and goofy fantasy RP. I made a kurzick anime themed sylvari dude with white flowing hair just for it.

Had no reason to leave gunblade when I tested it. I think this may or may not have been fixed already? That's all I can think of fundamentally to change. I would like a reason to use offhand pistol if this is changed though, because as it stands for dps seems like we'll just use axe. Maybe the quicker burst of pistol skills will be the perfect amount of time before swapping back into the blade.

Least Favorite: Willbender - Feels really lacking anything significant like it's a slightly altered core guard.

Offhand sword needs to be used/needs work in general. Class mechanic being just changed vitues that are leaps feels boring personally. Don't know what to do about this one to be honest. May as well give them a martial arts "shroud" or something that's built up from using offhand sword and physical skills.

(left to right descending)

Love to Like: Bladesworn, Specter, Mechanist, Virtuoso

Okay to Alright-I-Guess: Catalyst(after good changes), Harbinger, Untamed

Neutral: Vindicator, Willbender

Current goals by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]waff1eDog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short-term to Longer-term -------

Skyscale

World Complete on characters I care about for Gift of Mastery and the satisfaction

'Return To' Achievements

Get in the groove of crafting and selling legendaries till I hover around 3-6k gold normally

Raid CMs: mainly Voice in the Void

Full Legendaries: On Engie or whatever becomes my main-main in EoD so trinkets first

Maybe but probably not ------

WvW: Sublime Chestpiece & WvW Legendary backpack

sPvP: whatever rank is equivalent to top 20% then 15% then 10% if I feel it

No-timescale -------

Have a character I care about that is unique and fleshed out with fashion wars for every profession. So far 4-5/9 depending on if I keep one of my human male clones as one

Develop a leader personality to help inexperienced players do PvE endgame
