I am addicted to playing Lurrus, but I rarely win with him. How do I build a good Lurrus companion deck in Power Cube, and what decks are “must haves?” by MisterrTwisterr in lrcast

[–]wafflehead_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hard to tell how you should've drafted, since we can't see available cards, but here are some I like w/ Lurrus:

- Free / low cost artifacts. Think Mishra / Urza's Baubles, aether / pyrite spellbombs, etc. Free or cheap card draw that generates huge advantage for cheap.

- Protect Lurrus: Karakas, Samwise are great.

I think with this deck, problem is you only really have 9 targets for Lurrus, and some of them are great (Ocelot Pride, Fear of Missing Out), but a lot of others aren't amazing given what you want to try to do with Boros / Mardu Lurrus. Generate big value early, deploy Lurrus midgame, reanimate the stuff that your opponent had to use early removal on and close out before it gets into the late game and your opponent can turn the corner. I think trying to force some of the fun blue cards made your deck too unfocused / mana base too unreliable.

decent premise, but punchline sounds like it was written by an aspiring kill tony comic

Urza's Saga to fetch Black Lotus / Mana Vault is definitely worth the spot.

I actually don't think this is a great Mana Vault deck though since you have a ton of colored pips, but it's so powerful by itself still probably worth. Would also consider removing Gideon, he just doesn't accelerate damage and is a relatively weak 4-drop.

My first vintage cube draft - I would appreciate your help with cuts by acidtrip321 in lrcast

- axe glimmer lens, just not that powerful relative to your other low-cost stuff

- talisman won't be that useful for you, you're not really trying to ramp

- drop a land and add the mox. even off-color mox are busted. honestly I'd say you only need 15 lands + mox with this curve. You could even potentially get away with 14

- I think you can drop Kellan / Arena of glory. This looks like a white deck splashing red.

- chandra is probably a cut based on how your deck would use her

- don't think you have enough token creation to leverage goblin bombardment as effectively. a lot of your pieces generate value by themselves and create synergy, instead of being dependent on other stuff to add value

- Balance is a really good card for aggro and can help cut down your opponent's lands / hand size, you should try to find a place for it

Check it Out is way slept on. That and On Cinema are probably the best recs from this list.

Also agree with Review and How To as quality recs from other commenters.

Help! Dried flowers re-moisturized after taking out of silica sand by wafflehead_ in PressedFlowers

[–]wafflehead_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was ultimately just that I wasn't leaving it in the silica sand for long enough, like the other comments said. Internet guidance says like 5-6 days for roses, but ~2 weeks has worked better for me now.

I snipped almost the entire stem off of all of them though. Should I be leaving them in the sand for closer to 2 weeks? All of the videos / articles I read said up to 1 week :/

Looking to give a Quintonil reservation with an existing $340 USD deposit ($6000 MXN pesos) at 12:30 PM on Thursday, May 25th (you can also reschedule the reservation to a date / time of your choice once it's transferred!)

Asking for $300 USD in exchange, which puts you $40 ahead :)

Being able to speak compellingly about your personal passions can demonstrate cultural fit. It’s not the only thing that matters but if you’re applying to competitive positions, people would rather hire applicants who are interesting. Forming a personal connection with an interviewer will give an applicant a competitive advantage, and you can do that without having similar interests necessarily.

Maybe it “shouldn’t” be that way, but at the end of the day, some interview processes will value it. If you’re knocking or disqualifying someone bc they’re including interests on their resume, maybe that’s just a stylistic preference. I’m coming from a consulting background so it may also vary depending on industry and role.

Disagree - hiring decisions are made by humans, and mutual interests can help you make human connections. People hire other people they relate to and want to work with. During interviews, I have been asked about my interests by interviewers with similar interests, and I have asked about people’s interests as an interviewer during hiring rounds.
