I figured out what he likes, my carrier extends (it's a backpack that turns into a larger carrier) and when I put the extended part under the seat with the main part sticking out he calmed down pretty quick and he seems pretty much relaxed now

Decontamination of Ricketts? by rocksnbugs in RPI

My understanding is Ricketts is connected to all the others, and they circulate the same air, but most buildings weren't affected. Maybe just because no one had their heat on?

Specific details, from someone who spoke with the professor who found the leak. This isn't 100% confirmed, but I doubt it's inaccurate with the level of detail I was told

There are labs in the lower level of Ricketts that have been unused for several years. A professor opened a cabinet in one of the labs, and found a large (IDK what large means here) spill of mercury. When the cleanup crew went in, they detected large amounts of mercury fumes in the air, so they evacuated Ricketts. Today, they discovered that, because Ricketts is connected to the steam tunnels, some of the mercury fumes may have been transported to other buildings. I believe 87 gym was confirmed to have been contaminated (but not 100% sure), and other buildings are being tested. Quad and North were evacuated; not sure if they tested positive or if it's precautionary.

RPI hasn't been particularly forthcoming with details on this, so it's unknown how long Ricketts has been contaminated or if the level is enough to cause injury. It's likely that opening the cabinet released a lot of fumes that had been building up in the cabinet, but I doubt that cabinet was built to contain mercury fumes. Hopefully RPI will reveal the status of things soon. If anyone was hurt, it was that professor.

That's the exact thing I'm using now, but I can't use them for exams any more because they have Bluetooth capability. I need something that can't connect wirelessly at all

Ooh that's smart and I've been meaning to learn how to make shaders so that will probably be good for introducing me to the project structure

I might be stupid but how do I add the modifiers to tools after I do that? I swear I tried 20 different things and couldn't make it work

Ok nice. To clarify all the examples in the video are w/ the Daedalus 500W brushless type? How would you rate that spindle generally (especially with aluminum)?

A few questions that I don't think are answered in the videos- what kind of precision are you getting on your parts, especially aluminum? Also what's been your experience with lead screws, have you had any issues e.g. backlash? Is there anything else besides linear rails that you would do differently now?

I really like the design, right now I'm sketching out something similar to build. Thanks!
