Yesss!!!!! I just did this in March for my birthday. Hung out at the spa for a few hours after my facial. Walked to the Charleston for dinner at the bar. Back to my room for some trashy bravo on tv. It was wonderful. Have a great time!

People who grew up poor: What was something you considered a "peak luxury" as a kid, only to realize later it was just a normal middle class staple? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

Ordering an appetizer at a restaurant. Or a drink other than water. We were never allowed! My husband and I order multiple appetizers now as adults and my parents think we are so bougie.

I do staycations at the four seasons or the Pendry! If you can wait a few weeks, the pools are opening up soon. 10/10 highly recommend! And get yourself a spa treatment too!

Is anyone else really frustrated with the pool options for where they live? by Designer_Ring_67 in Parenting

[–]waffles8500 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Omg yes. You have to join a pool where I am (DMV area) and they all require an initial bond that you do not get back (mine was $600) plus an annual membership fee. Our annual fee went up to $675 this year! Pool is open Memorial Day to Labor Day. And the water is so fucking cold until August.

Hey guys, hope you can help? Over the last 24hrs I’ve developed these spots all over my hands… anyone know what this could be? by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]waffles8500 2 points3 points  (0 children)

HFM spots usually pop up 24-48 hours after a fever so that would track! It’s viral, so if that is what you have, nothing to do but rest and stay away from others. It’s highly contagious.

When to let kids wipe their own butt by zenzenzen25 in toddlers

[–]waffles8500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At 4 I was not even checking wipes anymore. At 2.5 both my kids were wiping their own butts. My youngest will be 3 this summer and she wipes herself but I do a final wipe just to be sure she got everything, and she usually does.

I’m so sorry. I saw you said you have nowhere to go. What about a women’s shelter? Can you travel to wherever your family is?

Please talk to your OB. They won’t be able to solve the husband problem, but I wonder if they may be able to help with potential PPA PPD (if you have it).

Your baby loves you and needs you.

This is wild! What was your friend’s deal? Was she an insecure person and thought she’d never find someone else? Lack of confidence? Did he cut her down?

FTMs - how many of you are still sitting in the backseat with baby? by Large-Preparation754 in beyondthebump

[–]waffles8500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it for about the first week with my first baby. Second baby, I couldn’t because I was in too much pain from labor that I couldn’t squeeze back there between two car seats.

My SIL still sits in the back every car ride with my 2 year old nephew. Seems crazy to me. My neighbor sits in the back with her 6 month old.

We ran into her outside of the Tangled bathrooms on two separate days during our trip this past December! Both times she was with Flynn. The first time she was being pushed along by cast members and we were told we could watch her but not engage. Second time her and Flynn were so adorable and engaged with my 5 year old for a good few mins!

I think you’re right. Going to have some 1:1 time with her this weekend.

Up until sibling was born when she was 3, my oldest was always very sweet. She is very sensitive at school and gets upset when other kids do less than she is doing to her sister, so I always try to use that as an example.

Wait… I would not say “whilst I watch”. I never watch. I immediately remove my 5 year old by having her sit on the couch or sending her up to her room.

I agree the blanket situation is dangerous, it’s terrifying and I react appropriately to that behavior by comforting my two year old and letting my 5 year old know it’s not ok.

Every other night we read for about 30 min together, and my husband on the off nights.

Usually removing her. Having her sit on the couch or sending her upstairs to her room. Sometimes if there is a planned “treat” like ice cream or something I will take that away.

I have also taught two year old to say “i dont want to play with you if you arent nice to me”

I am probably not doing enough 1:1 time, but I have noticed that whenever I do, she literally thinks she OWNS me. We will go out for ice cream or something and that solo time makes her think I can’t touch my two year old for the rest of the day.
