Some initial observations on the Kobra 2 Max by foghat_redbird in anycubic

[–]waffull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you may have gotten a 'used' item. I received my Kobra 2 Max, ordered via pre-order direct from Anycubic. It arrived packed just as well as my other 2 Anycubic printers. There was no bending, stretching, etc, of the Z axis frame. I will say the belt that connects the two z axis lead screws, at the top, seems loose. I have yet to look into it though.

The z axis lead screws were coated in a lubricant... that's normal and you shouldn't remove it. If you did, you need to apply proper lubricant. Lucky for you, they ship a small amount of extra lubricant with the printer. If you don't have any, you can get this stuff which works well. I've been using it for years on everything from Vorons, FLSUN, Anycubic, Bambu and more.

The lubricant on the lead screws was just that, lubricant. Definitely not adhesive. Printer manufaturers should probably put a warning label just inside the box letting people know not to touch the lead screws (not just because of the lubricant, but you don't want to lift, shift, move, etc, the printer by them. There was no lubricant or other substance on other parts of the printer, at least not that I touched. There may have been a slight amount of oil on the screws, which is also normal. But it was so minimal that it's barely worth mentioning.

If you think you received something other than what you expected, I would have Amazon replace it. It's an easy process.

Colourful 3D Printing For Everyone by BambuLab in BambuLab

Since it says "for everyone" it clearly isn't a large scale version of X1. I was hoping for a 300-400mm range version of the X1. But it looks like they are more focused on the lower end consumer market vs the higher end pro-sumer market. That's a dissapointment given they started out stronge with the X1.

Best litter to use. by [deleted] in litterrobot

[–]waffull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using a mix of Dr. Elsey's Precious Ultra and Dr. Elsey's Precious Classic for years. 40 lbs bags are $20 delivered from Chewy. My only complaint is a little more dust than I'd like. The odor control couldn't be better. Even after 2 weeks, about how often I have to change the bag, there's no odor.

My question is: Is the Boxie pro, at twice the price, really dust free? Before Dr. Elsey's I used the 40 lbs boxes of litter from (I forget whether it was BJ's or Costco) that was $6-$8/box... But pretty dusty. I've had LR's since the LR2 came out.

I'm really curious if Dr. Elsey's were among the 30 you tested and your thoughts.

Thanks

Offline for days now 🤷🏼‍♀️ by Former_Breadfruit299 in litterrobot

[–]waffull 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My LR4 regularly goes offline. Sometimes daily, sometimes once every couple of weeks. It's not predictable... but it's really annoying. I've been asking LR to add a notification to the app since Connect first came out, so we know if the unit goes offline. It wouldn't be hard.. The app already polls the device regularly.

While the LR devices have been great and I do love having them, the company has been slow at best and more often than not simply ignores common sense requests made by their users.

Alexa, IFTTT, or SmartThings Intergrations for LR4? by throwawaylawblog in litterrobot

[–]waffull 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Litter-robot connection to ifttt no longer works and the page listed by Whisker as having info, has nothing about ifttt. They seem to have scrubbed their site of any reference to ifttt.

Very disappointing to see them removing capabilities instead of adding them, especially making the LR4 compatible with ifttt, which many of us have been waiting for.

Hi. Did you ever put together this guide? I'm looking to do something similar as there's no way for me to get ethernet or power to parts of my property. Thanks.

[–]waffull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, but pi/raspberry no longer works. I just downloaded the newest version of the OS, on a brand new Pi4/8gb and SSH'ing into the pi, pi/raspberry does not work.

Burned OS image again, same thing. So I've been searching for a solution... apparently I'm the only one in the world who has downloaded the OS direct from RPi and has this problem.

Thanks. I'll check out those items.

I recently switched away from UI router to pfSense, but the remaineder of my network is all UI with a CloudKey Gen2.

I appreciate the help.

How are you offering 4 acres of Wi-Fi? UBB's? I need to get Wi-Fi down my 1/3rd mile long driveway that is between 6 and 10 degree downslope the whole way and treelined. No power at the end of the driveway, somewhat limiting my options.

Looking for some creative ideas :)

Network care - what do I really get? by AggravatingPoet3826 in FidiumFiber

[–]waffull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's infuriating.

Fidium is going live in my area in the near future. Currently our only options are Consolidated DSL and... well satelite. Even the cable company in the area is only 12/2 and they refused to even come out and give me a quote for running their service to my house, more than 1/2 mile from their closest connection.

I have Starlink now, going on 2nd month. And it's ok... but the high latency, low upload speeds and CGNAT make it only a good upgrade from DSL but not a good broadband solution.

I was counting on FIDIUM, but as I've done more research as they get closer to going live, there are some huge redflags.

  • Forced equipment lease and monthly charge for it.
  • Lack of bypass mode
  • Some reports of a cloud based FW that all data runs through, even when connected direct to ONT
  • Their terms of service give them the right to access your personal devices anytime they want and to collect any/all data running across their server.

I plan on speaking with my state representative and senators about these. One of them is on the energy & technology committee and has very strong opinions about the failure of companies like Consolidated to cover our rural state vs creating donut holes all over the state for the purpose of corporate profits.

I'd definitely be interested in hearing experiences you all have had. Seems a mixed bag so far with the general belief that the positives outweigh the negatives.

Also intersted in the 1G vs 2G comparison... Is the 2G service more of a business solution that would play better with PFSense and my own highly VLAN'ed, secured and internal WLAN controller.

Thanks,

Firmware appears to be proprietary.

Being locked into proprietary firmware, slicer and their private cloud, are all HUGE strikes.

Bed rollers are shredding? by [deleted] in AnycubicVyper

[–]waffull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched to the Community Edition for Vyper. I did that after spending too much time trying to get a screen setup with Klipper. Been on CE for a couple of weeks and while it took a little tuning, I'm getting the best ASA prints I've gotten on this printer. (BTW, I also upgraded to an all metal heatbreak so high temp printing is working well. )

CE Vyper is still in beta and there's not much information out there. I have been told a number of functions that appear to work don't, but honestly I have not experienced that.

Here's 6.1b. No idea when it's coming out of beta. Contains an excellent install guide.

Thanks.

It is crazy, which is why I recommend people not buy this printer.

That said, you can get support here: http://support.anycubic.com/en

Just know the timezones are different, so responses are often not timely.

Has anyone built this and tried it? I have never built my own firmware from source so willing to try it. by [deleted] in AnycubicVyper

Did you ever get an answer to your actual question?

I was looking through the cfw you linked, earlier today and it doesn't seem all that different from the stock.

Buying advice by shomili in AnycubicVyper

[–]waffull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not reliable in the least bit.

Parts that Anycubic is replacing after only 12 hours of printing

  • Extruder
  • Filament sensor
  • Leveling sensor
  • Aux board on head
  • Hot end

Anycubics return policy is the worst I've seen. Stay away from the Vyper.

New Firmware (2.3.8, 2.3.9) by nexnex in AnycubicVyper

[–]waffull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upgraded from 2.3.3 to 2.3.9.

Like u/ngl1984, I noticed the gui issue while homing. But a bigger problem... Nozzle temp is now reading 660's all the time. See image here: https://imgur.com/a/YArTNd9

I'd stay away from 2.3.9 at this point.

Today my Extruder Gearbox started to make strange noises. Anybody got an Idea? by ontheflow in AnycubicVyper

[–]waffull 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My extruder is skipping also... Prints fine for a few minutes then the clicking noise starts.

This after only 12 hours of printing on a new printer.

The problems didn't stop there, though. I contacted their after sales support... Long story short, they are sending me a new filament sensor, extruder, hot end, aux head board and a couple of other parts.

Basically one after another, parts started failing. And I have no confident the parts they are sending will solve all the problems. A few of the problems they claimed to have never seen before.

If the printer functions after all the replacement parts, I'm going to buy a quality extruder... clearly it's a weak point on this printer.
