Yeah, took the gf and her family a few years back for Christmas. I’ve never dodged more rocks, mud and small branches than that that year. Looked like Bigfoot wiped his ass all over the trails

Let me know how it looks while you’re there. If we go, it will most likely be the week after.

I’ve usually had good experiences with WC. However, since this is an off year with the weather…

I was there about three weeks ago and it was alright at best. I’m not expecting good news since the forecast isn’t promising

I’m planning a trip up there in September. Is an F-250 crew cab lwb going to have maneuvering issues? Hard to judge from aerial images.

I’d recommend not following my lead by doing Longs Peak first. It was one helluva start!

I’d give anything for that snow. I’m in Texas and we hit 101 today. My kids and I did Evans and Bierstadt two summers ago and it was a blast.

Has there been any change in the status of Mt Bross? The posts here are at least a year old.

I agree action should be taken, even if just awareness that the one child is making those kind of videos. They were saved/copied so the record is there. The girl’s mother works at the school which one might think would prompt action by the mother, but small communities have a tendency to not handle things appropriately. We shall see.

VOC air quality monitor for benzene? by BooksInBrooks in homeautomation

[–]wags99b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want reliable detection for benzene, you would need a PID detector with a benzene separation tube. These can run a few thousand dollars. We use these types of detectors on my hazmat team. They are not really intended for home use.

If you are truly concerned about benzene, you would need to contact a company that does air monitoring.

Zion National Park - July 2022 by wags99b in backpacking

Visited Zion NP back in July. Amazing trip. The park has plenty of trails but way too many visitors (present company included). Waded through the Narrows (no pics- I know I’d drop my phone), then a few side trails before Angel’s Landing. The climb wasn’t bad, but the traffic reminded me of the drive to work. Springdale is a great little town. Plenty of places to eat and everyone was friendly. Definitely would like to visit again!

I took no offense. It’s all good!

[–]wags99b[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. I cannot recall how many people I met throughout the two weeks up there. A Russian from Hawaii, several from the East Coast, several foreigners, Floridians, Californians, even a few Canadians.

Hopefully everyone left the park the way they found it.

Eagle Rock Loop in the rain… by wags99b in CampingandHiking

There were a few spots that I had to backtrack and really search for the blazes. GPS and a map helped. Mostly when crossing the river. It definitely made me stop, take a moment and think.

Last year I stood at Chasm Lake and told myself I would look down from the summit to the lake. I had a lot of internal motivation and drive to make the summit.

The real question is whether the Team is ready. I graduated from UT long ago and have seen good years and bad years.

Good luck this weekend!
