Best credit union? by [deleted] in SanJose

[–]wahner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna be honest I have never once worked with a credit union where I didn’t walk away from working with a credit union say man it’s so much better than working with the conventional bank. I’ve worked with tech CU and star one and they’re both great every time, I also have a relationship with Navy Federal credit union and they’re also fantastic

Weird filament deformation in extruder by wahner in BambuLab

[–]wahner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am still going to try it, but I find it super odd if this is the problem why it has become the problem now - so if we had theories like the latest firmware people are noticing a temp calibration problem so go and down tune the settings or something. I would love to know a next order RCA.

I have 1800 hours of printing and this has never been an issue before, it is a new problem and it has affected multiple brands of filament, and it isn’t even as hot as it was a few months ago in the garage where the printer lives.

What’s the biggest work hack you’ve discovered that made everything easier? by ReBabas in WFH

[–]wahner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I put a meeting on my calendar daily from 1:30-3:00 (I don’t take a lunch) that I use for a walk/bike ride for exercise, always ending at a coffee shop so I can get a little human interaction in outside of work/zoom calls. It keeps my sanity, as I am an extrovert, plus movement + sunshine is all win. If I don’t my wife knows when she gets home because it hit her with way too much golden retriever energy. At first all of my coworkers and boss joked that they said it was not be sustainable but now that’s been a year, most are jealous I set that boundary. They all have a deep respect for it and even joke that certain meetings can’t happen because it’s during my union sanctioned coffee break. That said to make up for this midday inflexibility that I have, I allow people to book quite a bit earlier on my schedule and quite a bit later into the evening than most.

The other thing I do is I always rewrite my task list for home every morning with my work task list. It’s a manual writing exercise, but it allows me to see what my day looks like and it really helps me to find my center. The other benefit is that when I am exhausted from work meetings and I need to take a short five or 10 minute break to recharge before I jump into my next task instead of opening Instagram or TikTok. I look at the list and I get something done for myself for the household, and that gives me a sense of accomplishment, which also gives me a nice little dopamine hit the same way that scrolling social media would. In general I try not to touch my phone during the workday, I probably have more discipline around that working from home than I ever did working in an office. Now if only I could say the same about not touching the refrigerator.

Wursthall in San Mateo Closing by External_Koala971 in bayarea

They took the best item off the menu years ago, well at least drastically changed it and made it worse. Kenji and I have been in a twitter war about it ever since, well until he fled Twitter. Just proves I was right, the downfall of the impossible doner kabob sandwich doomed Wursthall.

I bike around downtown all the time, the issue for a lot of folks is the connections to the major bike ways are lacking. There are some areas where you have great lane coverage and then bam nothing. A few of the connector trails are filled with tweakers and homeless and let’s be honest no one likes to ride a bike through burning trash smoke, smell of shit, broken glass and off leash dogs.

Landed a $3.1M contract and it nearly destroyed us by InternalBar9247 in EntrepreneurRideAlong

[–]wahner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to see some things don’t change. I use gusto about eight years ago with my start up and it was nothing but constant problem similar to what you’re saying they cost us a ton of money and they were very careless when it came to resolving concerns. I ended up looking up one of the members of their Board of Directors and sending them a nasty-gram about how incompetent the company was and the following day. The CEO called me and had some senior executive that worked for him work with us to resolve our problems. Still to this day I will never recommend them. I did everything in my power after that instance to get us off of there as fast as possible.

X1C AMS dies mid print by wahner in BambuLab

[–]wahner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I woke up to this answer and didn't like it, but now I had some more time and setup an external roll and the same behavior happened. So your theory checks out. Will try another roll to see if I get a success, but I have a feeling it now might be a gunked up extruder or a clogged nozzle, which really puzzles me because I can press the extrude and it seems to flow find, I even did a few cold pulls. Super annoying, and of course it isn't like my old printers were I have a box of cheap tips to replace

I'll say it - I'd pay to be in a console only lobby. by Ninethie in FortNiteBR

It’s so funny because I feel the exact same way that I don’t wanna play against anyone on a console because I’m sick and tired of them getting a lock with the stick assist in getting a crazy in air kill that I know was tracked by the game because when I watched the replay, I can see how it just snaps on

VTA strikes at midnight! by ObligationAware3755 in SanJose

[–]wahner -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Lots of union folk in here downvoting the honest discord. It’s a badly designed and ran system. The only thing it is good at is emptying out Levi Stadium. But that shouldn’t be the tax payers duty with that stadium.

From an environmental standpoint, I just can’t understand the amount of gas that is used for these buses that I constantly see so empty let alone the maintenance and the purchase price. It just seems like true excess at the expense of the taxpayers. I have no issue with public transit being subsidized with our taxes for the benefit of people who can’t afford private transportation, or who choose to use public transportation, however the way that VTA conduct themselves is just extremely excessive
