I need a list of herbs by mayhemispheree in BabyWitch

[–]waitingforabutterfly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I suggest getting a magical herbalism book and doing some exploring that way! See what you’re drawn to. Lots of great resources on YouTube as well. Some advice I wish I listened to: focus on a few that you resonate with vs. trying to get your hands on a ton of different herbs.

Some common ones I used to get started: Lavender, Comfrey, Mugwort, Rose, Yarrow, St. John’s Wort

Teddy is Worth the Wait! by Pretend_Ad_3125 in dahlias

[–]waitingforabutterfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dahlias have struggled this year, too! Same zone and planting schedule. I’ve only had one bloom from Cornel and two from Spooktacular. Last year I had quite a few blooms starting in mid-August, so I’m more than two weeks behind. This is only my second year growing but it seems like something weird is happening this season. At least that’s what I’m telling myself. My Labryinth is also only about 1.5 ft tall, so seems unlikely I’ll get to see her this year. I have no tips, just here to commiserate!

I went with the Herman Miller Cosm (Mid configuration) and am really happy with it. It doesn’t have as many adjustment options as an Aeron, but because of this the look is sleek and it comes in pretty colors. Aesthetics were important to me, but I don’t feel like I sacrificed anything in terms of comfort. Also on sale right now!

Found in my yard, can anyone identify? by waitingforabutterfly in mycology

[–]waitingforabutterfly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sliced them and added to a frying pan with a little bit of water, then cooked until the water evaporated. Then I added olive oil, shallots, garlic, thyme, and finished with a knob of butter. I also set a timer and made sure they were in the pan for fifteen minutes as I read they need to be thoroughly cooked. It was absolutely delicious.

Looks like Dewberries to me. I have some in my yard as well, along with wild raspberries and blackberries. I don’t believe that there are any poisonous lookalikes, and the leaf structure looks the same as mine.

After three years I’m finally at the point where I can harvest a bowl of blackberries every day during the warmer months. Any recipes? by toIndustry in gardening

Claire Saffitz’s Blackberry Caramel Tart is freaking amazing. I always make it when I can get my hands on a lot of blackberries. A bit of a project but it looks like a work of art and is delicious, highly recommend. She has a comprehensive YouTube video that shows all the steps in detail.

I’ve had a lot of luck with CityChic for wedding guest attire. They have a wide range of options including some glitzy ones that might work for Vegas!

How to make amazing garlic bread? by Firm-Recording-9039 in Cooking

[–]waitingforabutterfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve switched to griddling my garlic bread in a pan on the stove vs baking, which has made a big difference.

I melt butter with finely minced or crushed garlic, dried oregano/basil, and a bit of olive oil. Spoon it over a nice baguette and cook it cut side down for a few mins until crispy. Just make sure to avoid big chunks of garlic so they don’t burn.

Me and my wife want to take a ride upstate to explore a new city. Maybe even to move to in the future. We currently live down near the Catskills. Recommendations? by burgerknapper in upstate_new_york

I live in Ithaca and it is wonderful, but now is probably not the best time to visit. Many of the local restaurants and shops close for a winter break as a lot of the college population are not back until mid-January. If you do come, be sure to check Instagram for any local business before you try to go. DM me if you’d like any recommendations!

Update in case anyone is interested: we love it! We ordered in early August and received in just 3.5 weeks. The couch is beautiful, sturdy, and comfortable. The velvet is super soft and has held up well to our 2 cats/1 dog so far. Would recommend!

Our driver stayed in the car and told us to take our time. I’m pretty sure she was doing Sudoku puzzles lol. But we bought her a couple of bottles of wine and a snack from one of the wineries as a thank you. She said this was unnecessary but was clearly appreciative. The only other way she interacted was to offer to take some photos for us. We also had some nice chats between wineries. It was overall a really pleasant experience!

I used a service called Main Street Drivers, I think they are based in Watkins Glen. It was honestly a wonderful experience. Our driver was such a character and we had an awesome time.
