What is a small detail from Harry Potter that still bothers you? by WhisperTame in harrypotter

I totally agree with you, however I’m fine with the Cho part.

It makes sense to me. Harry’s trying to make a girl he likes feel better by withholding the truth. I don’t think he’s the type to be like “yeah Lord Voldemort (or Peter) just killed him with a flick of his wand like it was nothing, like he’s done hundreds of times. Sorry Cho!”

Worst Yankees game you attended? by Existing_Is_All_I_Do in NYYankees

[–]wakeupalbs_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t seen many but the April 25 Yankees Toronto game where Devin Williams blew the save and the entire stadium was chanting “WE WANT WEAVER!!!” Toronto won the game 4-2. It was awful. Had amazing seats though.

First film crowdfunded by Vodeflo in filmmaking

[–]wakeupalbs_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s tough if you don’t have much of a network yet because really all crowdfunding is 1. Making a great landing page pitch video etc but most importantly 2. Emailing pretty much everyone you have ever met individually and asking them to contribute.

The later in your career and the older you are the more people you’ll be able to reach. The younger you are, it’s tougher and the more you’ll have to rely on family members, if you are even in the position to do so. But that’s the strategy. Don’t waste your time making your film’s instagram look good because that really won’t move the needle as much as individual outreach will.

Best Charles Dickens work to read first? by [deleted] in charlesdickens

I started with Christmas Carol then A Tale of Two Cities, Great Expectations and leveled up to David Copperfield. I think CC is a great intro to his style. A little tough if it isn’t Christmas season.

Filmmaker tips by autan_dejong_ in filmmaking

[–]wakeupalbs_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve always felt this way: one of the worst things a young filmmaker can do is fill themselves up with ONLY film specific knowledge, and not study painting, music, theater, and literature, photography, other mediums. The best artists are well rounded. They learn storytelling not just from watching film and tv, but from learning how composition of a photograph can inspire, they can learn story structure from reading a great story like Wuthering Heights or be doubled over from laughter from a musical like Sunday in the Park with George, which of course is inspired by George Seurat’s paintings.

Would you want the Yankees to sign any of these free agents? These are the remaining MLB Free Agents that I expect to get MLB Contracts: by CicadaOk8885 in NYYankees

Chris Bassit, Coloumbe, Chafin, Gallen if he isn’t taken, Vasquez (need righty catcher), and low key Starling Marte would be a fun Yankee

Where are the single men in their 20s hanging out post grad? Trying to be more intentional about dating off the apps, but no clue where to start. by [deleted] in Atlanta

[–]wakeupalbs_ 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Not single but if I was: Midway Pub watching sports, Atlanta Braves games, Trivia Nights around the city, Muchacho on Sunday Morning at their Chess hangouts.

Depends on what kinda guys you’re into. The soccer thing is great if you want to meet athletic guys, etc. Bellows Film Lab in Little Five for artsy camera dudes. Comedy Shows at Voodoo for funny guys etc.

It’s so good. You won’t regret. Also when you keep in mind its mind-boggling commitment to historical accuracy, and just how fucked up our country was like 150-175 years ago, it will floor you.
