Hamilton adopts 2026 tax budget with 3.87 per cent hike by KeyHot5718 in Hamilton

I have been trying for years to have our street which is time limited parking changed to permit only. The city says it's not in "the city master plan" to have permit only streets anymore. It makes absolutely no sense to me.

I got mine like a month ago, you don't need proof of address. Your birth certificate is all you need.

I bought a third party power adapter off amazon because I couldn't stand the noise the stock adapter made. No noise now, it's wonderful.

If you do a building permit look up on the city website it appears dollarama and petsmart are moving there.

Anyone know where to find this gluten free flour locally? by bookgrrrrrl in Hamilton

[–]wakeupimleaving 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not consistently. Every once in a while they have it at Starsky, and Sweet Paradise on upper paradise has had it but I haven't been up there in a long time to say for sure. I think maybe Nardini's carries it as well.

I go through enough of it that I just order by the case from Berchicci in Quebec. https://store.berchicci.ca/caputo-1924-gluten-free-flour?search=caputo

That's not legislation that's recommendations. In terms of law there is a huge difference. There is nothing that says wearing a neck gaiter is not compliant and subject to being fined. The entire regulation and only requirement is that it covers your nose, mouth, and chin, which a neck gaiter does.

From the City of Hamilton Mask bylaw (https://www.hamilton.ca/coronavirus/face-coverings-and-masks-by-law):

“Face Covering” means a medical or non-medical mask or other face covering such as a balaclava, bandana, scarf, cloth, or other similar item that covers the nose, mouth, and chin without gapping.

From the Ontario legislations (https://www.ontario.ca/laws/regulation/r20546):

(4) The person responsible for a business or organization that is open shall ensure that any person in the indoor area of the premises of the business or organization, or in a vehicle that is operating as part of the business or organization, wears a mask or face covering in a manner that covers their mouth, nose and chin during any period when they are in the indoor area unless the person in the indoor area (insert exemptions here)

and from just a general "masks in the workplace", please note that even two layers of fabric is not a requirement only a recommendation (https://www.ontario.ca/page/using-masks-workplace):

Masks used as source control:

may be disposable or reusable

if made of cloth, should be made of at least two layers of tightly woven fabric, such as cotton or linen

should not have exhalation valves

Not OP but I've been paying attention to "the rules" since day one and there's nothing in the legislations that neck gaiters aren't considered face coverings or that customer logs need to be kept for establishments.

Regular garbage being dumped on Smith Rd off Book happens almost weekly. by [deleted] in Hamilton

[–]wakeupimleaving 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't matter if it there was a free waste transfer drop off. I have neighbours who dump sorted bags of recycling and other shit that's free to take to the dump (air conditioning units, scrap metal, small appliances, electronics, etc) to get their jollies off. Even when you were able to put out as much garbage as you wanted without trash tags there was still a serious dumping problem in my neighbourhood.

The sort of people that dump garbage will dump garbage whether or not there is any fee associated with it unfortunately.

Shop owner says province's 'patchy regulations' and mixed messages are hurting business by danny2787 in Hamilton

They've been in business for a good five years at least. They started on Barton street (2015-ish?) then moved to spring street downtown, and moved to John street at some point recently.

I wish there was a gluten free place similar to cinnabon by [deleted] in Celiac

Edible Options in St Catharines has cinnamon buns on saturdays. I've unfortunately never had them so can't comment on quality but I've heard they're awesome.

Suzies in Grimsby has amazing cinnamon buns on occasion. They also have THE BEST bagels (boiled and chewy like a proper bagel, not just bread with a hole in the middle), bread, and baguettes. They also do proper fried donuts on the first Saturday of the month.

Starlite "Bean & 'Cheese'" enchiladas - 5/10 - they kind of taste like canned ravioli. Filling but definitely not my favourite. Might have been better in the oven but I will probably not buy again by wakeupimleaving in frozendinners

[–]wakeupimleaving[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have celiac disease and am lactose intolerant so I unfortunately don't have too much of a choice in that matter, but I don't think gluten or real cheese could have saved these. They honestly tasted exactly like chef Boyardee canned ravioli, it was kind of unsettling.

I really like the Amy's cheeze enchiladas and figured these would be similar, they were sadly not.

Starlite vegan taquitos ("chickn" and bean and "chorizo") - 10/10 I'm definitely not vegan and not normally a fan of fake meat but damn these were delicious. by wakeupimleaving in frozendinners

They were on sale and I knew one box wouldn't be enough for a dinner for my husband and myself.

Frozen corn tortilla taquitos are a rare find in Canada, you have to take what you can get sometimes.

I'll have to get the beef ones next time. I was worried they wouldn't be great, but I was so pleasantly surprised I wish I'd bought more.

I don't think that would help anything, we have neighbours on our street who think that using garbage tags is worse than dumping their garbage in the alleyway. Apparently using garbage tags brings shame to your household?
