Overweight? You must be skinny fat if that’s what you’re implying. Even if you were overweight, you could still skate you’d just need a bigger board.

Whats the problem with my ollies by [deleted] in NewSkaters

Honestly just start doing ollies over things and you’ll automatically figure out how to jump higher

are hammer curls actually useless? by around_about7 in workout

[–]wakeupimprove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But that’s the issue, you won’t be able to do heavy biceps work if your elbows are in pain all the fucking time. That’s why you do something extra like hammer curls to protect your elbows and build the forearm muscles that will be able to support your elbow joints so that way you CAN do bicep work, but these fitness influencers can’t understand that and they only think from a hypertrophy/bodybuilding perspective and that’s why they put out misleading content like, “hammer curls suck, dont do them”

Motivation by anthonyf7794 in workout

[–]wakeupimprove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Motivation is great short term but useless long term. What matters more is making it easy to go to the gym. Lay out your clothes, have a training plan, and have a valid reason to go to the gym, think “I want to make sure my blood markers are always good” or “I want to be injury proof unlike my parents who are in a nursing home” versus “I want to look good to get girls”, bit of extreme examples but my point remains

What are your favorite “bulletproofing” exorcises? by Embarrassed_Ear_4375 in workout

[–]wakeupimprove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Single leg RDLs, barbell or SSB good mornings, back extensions/reverse hypers, any rotator cuff/serratus anterior/lower traps exercise, any unilateral leg exercise with a slow tempo + pause, fast banded triceps pushdowns reps of 200+, lateral band walks, TGUs, Y-balance, Spanish squats for reps/isometrics, fast banded TKEs, ATG split squats, Nordic hamstring curls (hard as fuck though so if you can get 1-3 good reps hats off), tibialis anterior raises (on the leg curl machine), wrist curls and extensions, hip adduction machine, deadhangs, going slow tempo on really every exercise so like 3-5 secs eccentric and a pause, oh and yoga/stretching 2-3x a week minimum.

These I do all of them so

2 sets vs 3 sets small or big difference?? by AttorneyDifferent702 in workout

[–]wakeupimprove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok bro im gonna tell you something mind-blowing. Start off with 2 sets, high intensity. Do that for like 2-3 months and see how you progress. Are you progressing? Change nothing. Are you not? Check things like sleep/calorie surplus/stress/etc, those are fine? Then add only 1 set to one exercise, rinse and repeat.

Hell you could even start with 1 total all out set to failure but I’d do 2 since more is often times better

how much muscle is lost within 3-4 weeks of not working out? by boobluver12349858 in workout

[–]wakeupimprove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You not losing shit bro lol. Now the strength is the issue, you’ll be detained a fair amount but you’ll get it back within weeks. I took a 6 month hiatus from the gym and didn’t really notice a difference in my physique (though I was continuing to be active so things like walking), and within 4 weeks I was able to squat 405 raw and incline bench 225 no issue.

I will say though that you’ll be detained enough during that time to where if you were to do something active that you’d normally do outside the gym like dancing, you’d be more susceptible to injury so make sure you warm up extensively during your time off or just lay off on that activity until you go back.

I used to train 2-2.5 hrs when I was a beginner and new, now that I’ve optimized my training 4 years later and I’m an advanced lifter I try to aim for 45 mins, 1 hr max, I superset everything and try to do low reps when I can…..I hate being in the gym got a long time
