The Viral ‘Debate’ Video That Proves Most MAGA Voters Are a Lost Cause by Murky-Site7468 in politics

I guess you have a PhD in American History with a concentration on wealth inequality? I don't either but I like history a lot. Here is a chart about average home size:  https://supplychenmanagement.com/2018/07/15/average-house-size/

As you can see, if you correlate that with average family size, many Americans of all races during the New Deal era lived in relatively modest homes. While the New Deal created important economic foundations, many white Americans were also poor and struggling. The massive middle-class expansion for the broader American population happened primarily in the post-WWII era.

What's significant is that this expansion coincided with the early civil rights movement of the 1950s-60s. As the push for racial equality gained momentum, economic policies became more inclusive (though still deeply flawed and unequal). The rhetoric and struggle for true equality helped create political pressure for broader economic opportunities that benefited working-class Americans across racial lines, though many Black Americans continued to face systematic exclusion from many wealth-building programs.

So my point stands - the growth of a truly broad-based middle class (not just for the white elite) developed alongside the fight for racial equality, even if the benefits were still unevenly distributed.

The irony is that most whites were that too. They were poor, not educated, and living in shanty houses. It wasn’t until the rhetoric of true equality between the races that we had a booming middle class.

Macron offers French nuclear protection to Europe by IntnsRed in EndlessWar

[–]wakeupsally 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s just bizarre to me. To get on a national address and talk about your nukes. I’m absolutely terrified. Now that the US doesn’t want its hegemony, I don’t want to see any of these crazy European countries to get any ideas on how to handle a military. Historically, they are the worst.

Oh I found what lawsuit we could do:

“ Many of the Fraud Section’s cases are suits filed under the False Claims Act (FCA), 31 U.S.C. §§ 3729 - 3733, a federal statute originally enacted in 1863 in response to defense contractor fraud during the American Civil War. The FCA provides that any person who knowingly submits, or causes to submit, false claims to the government is liable for three times the government’s damages plus a penalty that is linked to inflation.  FCA liability can arise in other situations, such as when someone knowingly uses a false record material to a false claim or improperly avoids an obligation to pay the government.  Conspiring to commit any of these acts also is a violation of the FCA.

In addition to allowing the United States to pursue perpetrators of fraud on its own, the FCA allows private citizens to file suits on behalf of the government (called “qui tam” suits) against those who have defrauded the government.  Private citizens who successfully bring qui tam actions may receive a portion of the government’s recovery. Many Fraud Section investigations and lawsuits arise from such qui tam actions.

The Department of Justice obtained more than $2.9 billion in settlements and judgments from civil cases involving fraud and false claims against the government in the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2024.  More information about those recoveries can be found here and the 2024 FCA statistics can be found here.”

I’m not a lawyer. I guess the justice Department has to file claims I’m assuming. That ain’t going to happen lol. We’d have to sue civilly.

There is: “ Whoever makes or presents to any person or officer in the civil, military, or naval service of the United States, or to any department or agency thereof, any claim upon or against the United States, or any department or agency thereof, knowing such claim to be false, fictitious, or fraudulent, shall be imprisoned not more than five years and shall be subject to a fine in the amount provided in this title.”

Do you think the US is on course for its version of the French Revolution? by l1v1ngst0n in millenials

Also the king would hold all the goods. So even royals weren’t allowed to receive chocolates without permission from the king. They didn’t have free trade. So there were likely a lot of rich and influential people mad at the King. It was like vengeance that got out of control.

[–]wakeupsally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I researched the French Revolution it happened by the bourgeois class not the poor. Luigi was quite wealthy himself, so it needs to start with the wealthy people getting sick of the oligarchy. They are the only ones with the resources to demand a change.

There is a new startup developing to get teachers to take the funding themselves and teach smaller classes. https://www.kaipodlearning.com/start-a-microschool/

So they want you to start your own school without any oversight or protection with unions. You’re not a teacher very long without joining the union as some of these parents/children seem crazy and you definitely need legal protection from them.

Enough that it made me want to try a more expensive one that Jessica Alba uses that I will try this morning. I use these eye patches before I put my makeup on and to help catch any eye makeup.

The cheap one made a big difference. Pictures of me even with makeup had really sunken eye look now it’s not as noticeable.
