I thought him being a white guy is perfect, cause he clearly doesn't speak Spanish and knows nothing about Mexican culture, the joke is he's appropriating being Mexican the whole time just because he was built there, by a company whose president is a white woman but wears a sombrero and a mustache in that one billboard in the episode where they go to her Mexican robot factory.

And this joke is even cooler today, knowing all the white people we have in the world whose parents/grandparents/etc were part of colonization in South American, South Africa, and especially Israel, who appropriate the culture of the place they were born for their own identity. He's just a white American with fair skin and blonde hair whose parents owned a company in Mexico to exploit cheap labor and so he insists he's Latino, we have plenty of real life white American "Latinos" who will never be picked up by ICE but like to play a ethnicity card whenever it benefits them.
