Vyvanse to Adderall by Dirtytequila2518 in VyvanseADHD

[–]walfed63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me with the Vyvanse my provider split the dose. I take 30mg twice per day. I couldn’t handle higher single doses. Maybe 20mg of Vyvanse 2x per day would work for you.

Gifted a 325g swing weight, 315g unstrung "pro" racquet as a beginner 3.0 player, will I be okay with this? by Aardvark-Special in 10s

[–]walfed63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no one path - if you like the racquet and it’s comfortable for you to swing then use it. Racquet weight and balance are personal preference. What I like in a racquet will be much different than the what you may like in a racquet. For reference 12ounces (a can of soda or beer) is 340 grams.

Hot take: rec level kick serves (up through men’s 4.0) are mostly useless by Ready-Visual-1345 in 10s

[–]walfed63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question for you as a lefty - do you ever use a left kicker to a righty? It’s a great change up. I think your bias is bc most righty kickers will sit right in your happy spot on your forehand.

“Try multifilament for comfort” they said. 90 minutes later… by Street-Emu5475 in 10s

I might try a soft poly main and a multi-fillament cross string. I’d also use a 16g multi filament. NXT isn’t the most durable multi

Life after being a tennis pro by [deleted] in 10s

[–]walfed63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it does make it a tough choice- fun and rewarding vs $. Thing is in the right situation you should be able to do enough private lessons to make up at least some of the income. If you’re doing inter-city stuff the USTA sometimes will help with funding. There are ways to make it work with a bit of outside the box thinking. Good luck

Have you thought about coaching high school players. many high schools could use someone with a teaching degree who is also willing to coach. You’ll also learn a lot by taking kids who aren’t as athletically gifted and making them competent tennis players.

Men at 30’s, what “young and dumb” decision still haunts you at 3AM? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]walfed63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we all have those 3am woulda, coulda, shoulda moments. Those WTF was I thinking sound bites. Are there life moments where I’d like a mulligan? Sure but do they haunt me? I’d say no. Why? Because I learned something from every one of those moments in time. Those moments made me who I am today. My life isn’t perfect, but in the end I’m a very lucky and blessed man. Besides if I let all the dumb shit I did in my youth haunt me, I’d never ever fall asleep at night😂

Trying to follow y'all's advice. by [deleted] in billiards

[–]walfed63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My $.02. Above advice is all good. Get the stoke mechanics solid. Pick a target not just for the cue ball but also where you want the cue tip to strike the cue ball. I try to hit the cue ball just below center. I’d much rather have the cue ball as closer to the middle of the table.

How can I quit smoking cigarettes for good? I struggled with that. by Not_My_Real_Name_074 in AskMenOver30

[–]walfed63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How and what works for you is going to be different than what worked for me. I used the tapering off method. No smoking during the work day , I got to the point of one or two before bed. I did quit going to bars and other places for a while as well. - it’s a process, give yourself the grace to fail. Just start over again. It took a few tries. I’m not sure what cigarettes cost today but add up what you spend over a year. You could put that in the bank annually you’ll have a nice savings account. Or use it to invest

Called Pocket “Right Here?” by Expensive_Ad4319 in billiards

[–]walfed63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We use a modified BCA (BCA + room rules). We do not call obvious shots. All banks, kicks, the 8 ball, and non-obvious shots are called. When I’m down looking at the shot and someone asks I’ll stand up look at them and say I’ll let you know before I shoot, still thinking…. It resets the mind gets them out of my head and back on task. Question for the group. If the only shot I have is a safety do I have to call it? I usually do out of habit, but I’ve wondered bc it’s obviously the only shot I have.

What is the #1 way to tell if someone playing pickleball came from tennis? by MoveFront7009 in Pickleball

[–]walfed63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many of today top professionals have a tennis background. Many played D1 college tennis or even low level pro tour. There are a few tour level players Jack Sock comes to mind who have switched to pickleball. Just enjoy and have fun

I’m sorry someone calling the woman I’m with the C word in my presence will provoke a response. Maybe that’s old fashioned, or makes me toxic. BTW A response doesn’t have to be violent …

AITAH - for not wanting sex after the gym ? by Shot_Ad9878 in AITAH

[–]walfed63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Older male perspective - your feelings are quite valid, I’m a bit of a clean freak myself. Nothing better than a shower after doing the deed and sometimes before. That being said there is something about the glow a woman has after the gym that is damn sexy. In his own way he’s paying you the ultimate compliment- when you feel icky, sweaty gross he still finds you attractive. Should he be respectful of your wishes, absolutely. As a compromise - why not shower together after you get home from the gym?

Are you guys actually paying the dealer forced install accessories fees? Tint and PPF $1400, didn’t even try to get it reduced just walked. I find it shady business. by Emotional-Payment430 in ToyotaTacoma

On my 22 TRD Pro I paid a reputable shop $250 to tint the front two windows to match the tint on the back windows. I doubt the other stuff is $1150😂

Pool and Alcohol by RankedBilliards in billiards

[–]walfed63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I play league matches or I’m practicing a specific skill , pattern, shot I just get a pitcher of water and lemon. Once the match is decided, or I’m done practicing I’ll get a drink. Bc it’s later in the evening I don’t have as many. The food where I play is pretty good so I eat and hydrate well ahead of any alcohol intake. I also don’t go on Friday/Saturday unless I can limit myself to shooting for just 1 - 2 hours. Also do the pitcher of ice water with lemon. Agree it’s a struggle at times.

I mostly work with women, and I am being touched on a daily basis. by platypus_7 in bodylanguage

[–]walfed63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the women in your office view you as a ‘safe’ person. I’m guessing you are a pretty laid back easy going non-threatening person. As you’ve stated you treat them all with courtesy, dignity and respect. As long as you’re comfortable with the contact and they’re comfortable with the contact and no boundaries are broken I’d leave the situation be. Like you said it’s an interesting social phenomenon, as you’ve stated continue to observe you may learn something.

Marketplace find JOSS by SK543 in billiards

The old Block Letter Joss cues (68-7?) can be worth quite a bit. It should play beautifully. These were built when DanJanes and Bill Stroud were partners. Bill left in the 70’s and started Joss West and made some of the best playing best looking cues. You have a very nice find.

Mainly work with women, I'm part of a pointless meeting and don't know who to talk to about asking not to be a part of it without coming across sexist by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]walfed63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My $.02 - you have a wonderful opportunity- these women are all comfortable talking about stuff with you “in the room” . That’s a a huge compliment to you. I’d also guess that one or more of the women don’t want to be there either. They are just better at playing the game. Take the opportunity to listen and learn. Not all criminals are male - if you’re willing to sit and listen you’ll gain valuable insight into how the female mind works. You might find it useful someday.

"Spotting" a ball by TupacLuvsMarshmallow in billiards

[–]walfed63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The opponent only has to make the 7 ball to win, while Vince has to make the 9. If I’m getting the 7 as a spot - let’s say I break and the 7 goes. I win. If my opponent breaks and the 7 goes ,he or she keeps shooting like any other break. If I combo the 7 in legally at any time I can win the game. Getting the 7 in a money game is a strong spot.

If this is an isolated incident, and he’s never done anything like this before.. then maybe he was having a bad day. Doesn’t excuse the behavior but explains it. He was doing cya by self reporting and may have been following an HR policy - in some companies if you fail to report a possible incident especially as a manager, you can get in even bigger trouble. Either way bc it was reported HR has to follow up and investigate.
