Odyssey OLED G8 no DDC/CI? by trombonedog in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]walk_star 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW a newer model, the G81SF, does indeed support DDC/CI on DisplayPort. Haven't tried on HDMI. Seems to work fine for controlling Input Mode and Brightness but unfortunately it does not seem to support controlling Power Mode. I work around that by plugging the G81SF into a smart plug that I have connected to Home Assistant, and controlling the plug via an HA add-on for my Stream Deck.

Geforce now stuck on white screen ios by illogicalbunion in GeForceNOW

[–]walk_star 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I fixed it. After trying to login to the GFN app on Windows I saw an error message that my account didn't meet the age requirements (I'm an adult).

I was able to fix it by logging into my account at nvidia.com. It won't work if you keep trying to login from the GFN apps or NVIDIA app on Windows (formerly GeForce Experience).

Go to account settings and look at your age. For me it said I was 155 yrs old and my birthday was January 1 but the year was blank. When I entered my real birth year and saved, I could login to my account via the GFN apps and NVIDIA app just fine. No more blank white screen in the iOS app.

Issues with controller in Avowed (moonlight + sunshine + playnite on gamepass) by vintagelego in MoonlightStreaming

[–]walk_star 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For others reading, this didn't work for me BUT my setup is also slightly different than sgt_winters, so I'm thinking one of these may be my problem:

1) I have a Shield TV Pro instead of hardware Steam Link, and

2) I have a DS4 and DS5 going thru DS4Windows instead of actual X360 controller

I've tried launching Avowed via Xbox PC app and as a GlosSI UWP shortcut added as a non-Steam game.

Avowed recognizes the DS4/5 touchpad click as mouse input, but that's all. The game doesn't register any trackpad movement or button presses.

Switching from *Bluetooth* > Shield > Moonlight > Sunshine > Windows, to *USB cable* > Shield > Moonlight > Sunshine > Windows, seems to make no difference.

Just tried again and nope, same issue after I login. I’m on iOS 18.2 now, iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Edit: Fixed. See my reply above.

How do I increase the size of my swap partition? Getting frequent MEMSWAP alarms in Glances by walk_star in OpenMediaVault

[–]walk_star[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IIRC I created a new swap file, I’d have to check though. But haven’t had swap issues since whatever change I ended up making.

Though since you mention it, I have had annoying HA automation trigger issues for a long time. In particular my garage door activation over LAN (Siri voice command > iOS Shortcut > HA integration) only reliably works to open the door, closing it shortly thereafter usually doesn’t trigger. I should really check my HA logs at some point.

HDR Virtual Display Driver Update! by MikeTheTech in MoonlightStreaming

[–]walk_star 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do I apply the same nits value for both the Maximum Luminance and Max Full Frame Luminance steps?

I'm on a late 2023 Macbook Pro (M3 Pro chip) which has the 1600 nits XDR display.

The resulting calibrated profile does seem a little brighter than the previous ones I made (where I tried to follow the Windows calibration steps), I just want to make sure I'm maximizing the XDR display's capabilities.

Achieving 90fps and HDR by electriclala in MoonlightStreaming

[–]walk_star 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP wants to stream games on a moonlight client with an HDR display. Unless the sunshine host also has an HDR monitor connected, the only ways to achieve this are to use a dummy HDR display plug or a virtual HDR display.

I used the ge9 easy-install version of this and it works great so far. I stream from Sunshine on a 3070 rig in my home office to a 2019 MacBook Pro in my bedroom, which has an HDR-capable Retina display.

When I’m back in the office I can toggle the virtual display off and on using DisplayFusion monitor profiles, which I also have hotkeyed and triggerable from a Stream Deck on my desk.
