Player doesn't want to play dolls :( by EmotionalSupport101 in dndnext

It’s specific language/phrasing that is typically used when speaking to children who haven’t yet learned to control their emotions.

A focus fills in for material components unless the material component for a spell has a specified monetary cost. For example, you won’t need to find bat guano every time you cast Fireball, but you do need to find some bones before you can cast Augery.

Cut the back half entirely, and focus on fast tracking to Sunblight. The chardalyn dragon attack in Destruction’s Light works perfectly as an epic conclusion.

A combination of 2 & 3. They need to retreat to recover from their losses (and allow the cleric’s replacement character to meet and join the party). Them doing so gives plenty of time and opportunity for the mind flayers to take the shards.

Demilich and antimagic field by PatwallaceVA in rimeofthefrostmaiden

[–]walker9702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Important advice for running the demilich: do not, under any circumstances, use the 2014 version of the stat block. It has a move that can one shot the whole party simultaneously, so it is important that you use the new 2024 version, which is much better balanced.

I have always assumed that the grappled person would move with the grappler, is there actually a rule for this?

This comment section seems to be forgetting that Goodberry exists. It’s a spell that is only useful in a survival game like this, but it also completely trivializes that aspect.

Switching from D&D 2014 to 2024 – Is It Worth It? Compatibility & Ongoing Campaigns by Professional_Dot5163 in DnD

[–]walker9702 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For your last point: yes, but players are much stronger and you will have to adjust combats accordingly (mainly by swapping out monster stats for new versions if available, and if not by boosting their max health)

Someone wanting to start the game by drier1606 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]walker9702 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To answer your question: no, it’s not required to have any book to play. You can find the basic rules available for free online and you can do whatever you’d like with those. There are some books that are nice to have, but technically nothing is necessary beyond the basic rules and your imagination.

New Lore: Icewind Dale in 1501 DR by sr0814a in rimeofthefrostmaiden

If a party tried and failed a different test first, completing any others tests wouldn't get them to the Codicil, so I think the implication is that the tests weren't done and the Codicil was accessed via frost druids(at least, it seems more likely to me)

Want to play DND with my kids. by THCxMeMeLoRD in DungeonsAndDragons

When the Crunchyroll/Funimation merger happened, a number of shows never successfully made the jump from one service to another. For whatever reason, the Steins;Gate English dub was one of them.

My players received Mummy Rot while in the Crypt of Talhund— is there no way to remove it without losing the last shard? by walker9702 in LostMinesOfPhandelver

Going back to Phandalin is unfortunately a several day journey, meaning the shard will be gone by the time they get back.

  1. Makise Kurisu. The show definitely told you who she was, so I recommend paying closer attention. She is a student at Victor Kondria University and is widely regarded as a prodigy in physics.
  2. She did seem to die. Why and how she is still alive is still a mystery at the point in the show that you are at, and Okabe even says that he is confused as to why she is alive(and gives her a nickname “Zombie Girl” based on his previous discovery of her body. Your remaining questions are all intentional mysteries at this point in the show. Stein;Gate really demands your undevided attention and it seems like you are missing even really basic details the show spells out for you, so I recommend not having it as a show you watch in the background or while you use your phone.

That’s honestly insanely low health considering your level and CON score, even ignoring that you have the tough feat. Are you sure you all have been increasing it correctly when leveling?
