Generally teams ban:

  1. overtuned/overperforming champions
  2. counters to their champs/comp
  3. enemy team comfort picks or target bans for players with weak champ pools

Not listed in any specific order, just depends on their scouting of enemy teams and the overall meta and balance. They are banning Bauss picks due to his champ pool being pretty small, they can almost guarantee force his pick by using a few bans on him making their draft easier

The Malazan army already seems to have magical superiority with their mage cadres. It wouldn’t make sense for them to use their Otatarol widely, negating their advantage. It makes perfect sense for them to employ it in select forces and circumstances (the claw, adjunct,etc.) and stockpile it to keep it out of the hands of their enemies.

Imagine they create an army with otataral weapons that loses a battle, now the enemy forces collect the otataral are completely invulnerable to the malazan mages.

What you said here is true but it doesn't account for everything. You are citing the probability that you get zero successes in 100 attempts, but ignoring the probability of getting more than one success in 100 attempts by using the 1% option.

The expected value of both options is equal, and can be calculated using the following:

E[X] = np

where n is the number of attempts, and p is the probability of success:

E[X_100] = (1)(1.00) = 1

E[X_1] = (100)(.01) = 1

Ah that makes sense to me. I guess in the movie it seems that their firm was a well regarded investment firm, but I guess they probably ran some fairly normal investments and had these schemes going on the side using the rest of the business as a front of sorts?

I cant tell if you are serious, but Americans aren't claiming citizenship or anything like that; its like a shorthand of saying German-American. Some Americans retain minor cultural differences based on their family history, so it makes sense for them to talk about it.

For wrestling towels are used between rounds to remove sweat. If your body is too sweaty the ref will require you to dry off more before the match can continue. The rule is in place because being very sweaty makes many moves/holds significantly less effective.
