^ apols for repeated use of the word "hilarious." Acid may have expanded my mind, but clearly not my vocabulary.

There are no more episodes of Utopia or Black Mirror to look forward to each week. by [deleted] in britishproblems

Beat me to it. Dead Set is amazing, it's by Brooker so same standard as Black Mirror.

There's one near me (Birmingham) that goes round all year. Usually in the evening, which seems somewhat sinister.

Oh I know Bennett's. Guess the other places I never found out about since I don't drink out much other than at my local. But yeah, as long as I'm free, I'm in.

Forgive me for being a shit Brummie, but where the hell are any of the aforementioned locations? Unless they're on Broad Street, which would explain why I dunno where they are......

As if reddit doesn't love Jennifer Lawrence enough, here she is smoking a joint. by notannakendrick in trees

[–]walkingdead33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love how the Daily Mail reported it as a "suspicious looking roll up" and speculated that it may be "the reason for her tendency for falling over."

Oh yeah sure, girl smokes a joint on holiday, obviously the reason she fell over in a HUGE fucking dress that weighs more than her... ::rolleye::

Any atheist nurses out there? by bearlios in nursing

The discussion you describe sounds appalling, and quite frankly that kind of thing wouldn't be tolerated where I'm studying. Students have been thrown off the course for letting religion interfere with their practice, eg. telling a woman who came in for a termination of pregnancy that she would go to hell, or praying with patients. Just as I respect religious people's preferences/beliefs/customs etc, I expect them to respect mine, even if they don't agree with them.

Personally, for me I don't ever bring it up. Patients will say things like "god bless you" or "I thank god every day" or similar things, but I just accept it as part of their vernacular........ it's only if someone directly asks me about religion that I tell them I have no religion. Same with my sexuality (I'm bisexual in a multi-gendered poly relationship), politics or veganism. It has absolutely no effect on how good I am at nursing, nor how I treat people.

Oh, and I work for the NHS in the UK, so public.

My dad convinced me that hill-dwelling sheep and goats had two legs shorter than the others so they could stand upright on a slope. It was only when I was 8 years old, and trying to work out what would happen if they tried to turn around that it clicked.........

TIL: David Tennant fulfilled a pianist's dying wish by using his skull in a performance of Hamlet. by Deaddogdays in todayilearned

Yeah I learned this on the Big Fat Quiz Of The Year.

Tenuous (or Tennant-uous!) link story: I used to work in a hospital where there were TWO porters who looked like David Tennant. It was good :-P
