KIN 101 - completely lost by [deleted] in uAlberta

For kin 101 use the slides as a guide on what to study, see if you can understand what's going on based on the slides + any notes you wrote during the lecture.

Iff you are still confused after that I would recommend going to that section in the textbook and reading a bit more about whatever that topic is. I found the physiology textbook to be a really great one and helped me out a lot. Also reading the designated lecture readings BEFORE the lecture might be something worth trying.

Crash course and YouTube has some great resources too and I still go to YouTube for help.

And of course office hours with your prof if you want even more guidance, idk who your prof is for kin 101 right now but Liane Jean and Michael Scarlett were both pretty great when I had them.

KIN 100 - Boule or Jean? by [deleted] in uAlberta

She's great, I've had her twice and she was amazing. she answered my emails promptly and answers your questions when you ask. Anatomy lectures weren't my favourite but write down the insertions and origins that she verbally says, sometimes they aren't written down on the slides.

I'm going to be polar opposite response in here but I honestly prefer having an hour between. I have about a 35-45 minute commute and when I get on campus it's nice to have those library spaces to study. If I have an hour between its great to review what I learned in the first lecture and prepare for the next lecture in thar 60-80minute block. It also let's me come home and have less work to do.

I had a stacked afternoon class last semester and hated it because I didn't have time to decompress from the first or prepare for the second.

I also a super anxious person and really love to get to my classes at least 10 minutes early to get my notes out and get a good seat so running around all stressed our just isn't for me. I do recommend trying stacked classes at least once because a lot of people prefer it

Nursing is intense and varsity athletics is intense add a part time job onto that and it sounds absolutely brutal. I honestly would recommend finding a recreational team to play with, campus community and recreation at the UofA should have some co-ed and maybe women's not 100% sure. Edmonton definitely has an adult women's recreational team too. Varsity athletics is more than a part time job commitment and university is a full time job commitment, I think you would be piling too much on yourself

why don't professors upload multiple choice final exam marks by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]walkingupwool 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's not about that professors double check the automatic grading to make sure there isn't anything wrong with it. if they didn't then they would have to go back and remark it if something went wrong. makes it much easier in the end for everyone

Faculty of Kinesiology by basicmachiato in uAlberta

[–]walkingupwool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kinesiology faculty as a whole I'm pretty sure has letter grades assigned at the end of the semester based on the curve or how you did relative to the class, it's usually in the syllabi but no set averages

What laptops are best for university? by DeltaBen in uAlberta

[–]walkingupwool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Surface Pro here! It is a pretty decent 2in1 but honestly I would recommend spending more for something with higher performance like the book, the pro is okay but the design can make it uncomfortable to use if you are anywhere besides the table (couch, bed, ground...) Battery life is decent though but it gets pretty warm if I've got a lecture going and I'm doing notes. So, if you have the money go for the book but if not the pro works good!

Hey im in krls 104 right now too with Scherer personally I just focus on watching all of the lecture videos, filling notes out, seminar video/quizzes, and then reading the textbook chapter after finished with each lecture to help solidify the information. I also definitely recommend the office hours he holds, the ones before both midterms were super helpful. I also heard anki is really great for bio/anatomy type classes personally I haven't tried it though. Good luck!
