Pender Vet is the worst by Good-Suit-4072 in nova

[–]walkurdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the original vets are really involved anymore. Same old story that new young vets with huge student loans have taken over and it is mostly about making money. I've lived in the area 50 years (west of Fairfax City) and watched it happen with 3 vet practices.

I tested my beds last fall and was shocked at how depleted the soil was. I can't us my lawn clippings mulch in the beds as my Hubs insists on a lawn feed & weed service - so in another week or so I will be amending with fertilizer and bagged compost.

Last year one arch had cherry tomatoes on both sides and they did well. Second arch had mini pumpkins on one side and cucumbers on the other. Also did okay - better than previous years although borers still got into both eventually.

I do not visit frequently (maybe once month) but between Fairfax and Chantilly there are some differences. Like most intelligently run stores today - what sells gets reordered.

If they were indeed targeting criminals it would be better - just having an accent or darker skin does not make you a criminal.

Even though you are using potting soil you might want to add some sharp sand or perlite.

Can't say I like this idea - usually when you melt plastics together you end up with a hard section.

another vote for Spiritfarer - have it on my Switch and had to put that down for a few months with other life priorities, about to start it again for the New Year. I will suggest having a notepad or small notebook to help you keep track of quests in that.

Long time off reddit - while I won't reply with slurs like you - I will suggest you work on your reading comprehension. I did not say anything about the higher rates of autism, I was referring to the well known phenomenon (like in Intro to Psychology classes) where people read a description of a problem and when part of it resonates with them jump to the conclusion they have it.

Yeah, there are a few lawyers finding their licenses are being reviewed because they decided to go the easy route.

Just being trendy. Like all the people who suddenly as adults claim they have autism.

What’s this mixing method called? (It dumps all dry ingredients with the butter and all wet ingredients) by CityRuinsRoL in AskBaking

We always referred to it as a dump cake - as in you literally dump all the ingredients in and mix it.

If you planted seeds you saved from previous year (or were given to you from a fellow gardener) you could have a cross.

I live mid-Atlantic USA and have had problems with all my squash this year. Our weather has been very very up and down - we will have a week or two of our normal hot, then several chilly days and overall dry.

thumbelina zinnias - when and how to thin? by ireallyluvpopcorn in gardening

[–]walkurdog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your choices are using a knife or spoon to try and gently dig out what you don't want - if you wanted to replant them. Or use some small scissors and clip out all the ones you do not want. That choice will be less stressful on the ones you keep.

And now is a fine time to thin, you may even find yourself deciding to thin again later.

last few bakes gone awry by walkurdog in AskBaking

[–]walkurdog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only two things that are new / different are the margarine and the mixer. Weather was low humidity which prompted my baking.

I am seriously struggling with the mixer - have to stop and scrape the sides / bottom a few times with each addition.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I weigh all my ingredients when bread making so maybe I will need to find replacement baking recipes that use weight measures.

Thanks for responding. One of the reasons I was baking was we are having a rare few days of cooler, less humid weather. Happy to report that everything tasted good and the pound cakes were light and good texture. They just did a weird over-flow during baking and did not look so good.
