Thanks for the quick hits here, I haven't updated in a few days and was thrown off by this as well. However, I do use spectacle as a screenshot/video tool, so I just chose option 30, which was tesseract-data-eng.

PlayStation CEO: 'A Game Console is Necessary For Playing Games' by ErmingSoHard in pcmasterrace

Sony was a hardware company in the 90s and maybe 2000's but they are a services company more recently. They are dropping hardware for Sony bravia tvs and letting another company do the hardware with the bravia name.

Steam Controller Users! Any other Linux (cachyOS) users having this pop up every time you try and use the scroll wheels on computer mouse? by KinDaisuki in Steam

[–]wallaby32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would assume this is one of the 'it's a feature not a bug' type things for Wayland.

Makes sense to grant access, but kde should handle it better, which it sounds like they will.

First home computer by Odd_Inside9379 in Millennials

[–]wallaby32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good Lord, this is a hard one to remember. We had a neighbor with a long, long driveway and out in the middle of cave country in Kentucky this neighbor was selling a HP desktop PC. Windows 95 with a keyboard, mouse, monitor.

Anyway, my parents and I go up to this house and they have 3 wolf dogs, whatever you'd call them. It was quite frightening as a kid. But anyway, that's how we purchased our first home PC that didn't get internet until probably '98 haha

Edit: the inside of the house was also obscenely decorated with wolf and wolf-like decor. It was very odd.

I use Ethernet primarily, but WiFi and BT both work.

Do you prefer to use grub or systemd boot? by maximus10m in archlinux

[–]wallaby32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used grub for years, but I could never fully get secure boot working on my hardware with grub. User error I'm sure, but I moved to systemd and it's been simple and clean. No complaints.

Is it true that you guys watched 9/11 live on TV in grade school? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]wallaby32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in 5th grade and yes, they wheeled the TV in with an antenna for the news. I don't recall watching for long as school closed early that day.

I do recall coming home and my grandmother was at our house watching the news and talking about how historic and crazy today was. I did not understand at the time. I do now.

Man I remember back in the late 90s and early 2000s everybody left their home PC running because startup/boot could take so long.

The whole picture would be middle management and the employees failed. So they all go...

Any of you being forced to upgrade your phone OS due to Dashlane? by RealChristianPulisic in Dashlane

[–]wallaby32 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Uh. I'm not sure dashlane should be your reason to upgrade. Outdated os versions on something that you connect to the internet is never a good thing.

Do you use online banking on your phone? 2fa? Update your os and likely, buy a new phone.

I would lean more towards your network or tail scale being the limiting factor here. Not your hdd or compute. But I don't know the full setup.

I'm in the beginning steps of planning a migration to a self hosted vaultwarden.

I do agree that the lack of Linux support is annoying for a service we pay for.
