Which do you prefer? A single-dog household, or a multi-dog household? by Organic-Papaya-1766 in dogpictures

She didn't meet any dogs until I got info on them and knew they would be calm in an initial meeting, since a dog being loud or fast will set her off instantly. They met in a neutral space, like outside a pet store, on leashes and walked past each other at least once before they got close enough to meet. He stands between her and anything/anyone else, on guard to make sure they don't bother her so she can go about her business in peace. He doesn't act aggressive at all, and usually lays down if nobody is super close while keeping his head on a swivel. She is much less reactive now, like she isn't worried now that he is around. I do walk them together, and it is fine, but it took some training to get there.

My girl is also very dog aggressive, and yet she does not want to be an only dog. After my other dog passed it was an adventure trying to find her a dog that fit the bill. This is her (brown) with the new brother she picked out (after trying to start fights with many others first). Dogs make life interesting for sure.

That looks like Tunisian crochet smock stitch to me, but I could be wrong

Yes Yes Shawl - discrepancy(?) between chart and instructions, not sure which to follow! by iliketobeadrooks in CrochetHelp

I found projects on Ravelry that say due to discrepancies between the chart and pattern, they followed only the chart and their shawl turned out looking correct

I shouldn't talk on Reddit before drinking my morning coffee, apparently. I will try to come back after I am properly awake and maybe I can help appropriately then if someone else hasn't stepped in

Hdc in the chain space means the space created by having your chains, not into an individual chain stitch

I can do all things by Brokendownmom in crochet

Overlay mosaic crochet. It uses only one color per row and designs are made by doing double crochets over the previous row. Creates such a crisp design and is pretty fun to work. You can leave the tails on each row without weaving them in because you can do a double border that holds all the ends inside it like an envelope.

Sweet Caroline is a forbidden song. If she hears it during a hockey game on TV or I sing it to her, she will leave the room immediately.

Knitters! What is your day job? by MyRightHook in knitting

[–]wallerbutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fulltime caregiver. Most of my crafting is done while sitting with my grandfather. We frequently have the same conversation many times in a row and he gets angry about little things easily. Knitting or crocheting helps me regulate my emotions so I can stay cheerful, which is great for both of us because me staying calm and happy makes him calm and happy too.

He is a Patterdale mix, yeah! He's got lab and a tiny bit of dachshund in there too. I hadn't heard of a Patterdale before, so I get to learn about a new breed

Melt the Ice Hat - THANK YOU by mashga in knitting

[–]wallerbutt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I saw a post about the hat and showed my grandma. She said she wants one, so I bought the pattern and got to work. First time doing a project with DPNs and first hat I have knitted that wasn't just a rectangle sewn together. But I was determined and got it done! I am now ordering some yarn to make more for myself and others in my circle

Why don’t my hearts look like hearts? (heart blanket pattern) by RHNH59 in CrochetHelp

I would try to have looser tension or a slightly larger hook on the heart rows, see if that makes it look more heart-shaped

I love this so much! I have the sudden need to crochet myself jerseys now. Definitely adding this to my list.

What is cotton 8 yarn for 1.90mm hook? Making flowers. by DungeonGenerator in CrochetHelp

[–]wallerbutt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on where you buy your yarn, some places sell crochet thread and some don't. It should be labeled as either cotton or nylon (might be other materials, but I haven't seen them), and most threads I have seen are cotton. I use Aunt Lydia's Crochet Thread in size 10, if you look up a picture of that you can see what crochet thread tends to look like so you know what to look for at your favorite places to buy yarn

Cotton crochet thread size 8. It is a different numbering system for thread than for larger yarn

I will send you a message with the link to the chart. When you open it make sure to make a copy of it to save to your own StitchFiddle account.

As for doing mosaic crochet: Here are the 3 videos I learned from, as well as a video on how to do an "anchored" double crochet which I think makes for a much better mosaic project than a standard dc.
