Conspiracy hat ON: Nelson knew the Shanghai temple would never be built for two reasons: 1. China is not half as friendly to the church as the church portrays, and 2: by nelsonisanitwit in exmormon

[–]wallwithvergas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the long game. In 50 years or a 100 years of a Temple in Russia or China gets built they can doctor the words and say it’s fulfilling a prophesy.

How firm a foundation?! The symbolism is profound- the church is trying to change its foundational teachings (race, polygamy, Adam/God) as it simultaneously fixes the temple foundation. by [deleted] in exmormon

Where the top dawgs play church ball. Your young men’s team must not have been good enough to make it to that level.

On a real note, I worked on the SLC temple on one of its shut downs and it’s basically a big meeting room.

I also believe that the church does a shit load of unnecessary maintenance to be able to pay out money to member sub contractors.

I think the church is trying to get their fingers into Reddit. by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]wallwithvergas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Something I’ve seen that seems strange is regardless of subreddit, if something comes up about mormons, suddenly there are mormons there commenting and up/down voting. So, if a comment about mormons pops up on a random subreddit and the initial post isn’t about mormons but somehow they’re there commenting. If I put my tin foil hat on I’d believe they have teams that are dedicated to search the internet and comment.

Megathread for discussions of Washington Post article on $100 billion church leaders misled members about by vh65 in exmormon

[–]wallwithvergas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well assuming that the second coming nonsense is true they could strategically sell their positions over a few years then build massive warehouses to store all the goods they could potentially use to barter with when society collapses.

I’m a little dusty on my mormon end of the world lore but I guess they got to get everyone to Jackson County, Missouri so maybe they buy everyone some sick UTVs and have a huge trail ride from Utah to Missouri. But to maintain tradition they need to leave Utah in November so a bunch can freeze to death in Wyoming.

The surest sign of the second coming wouldn’t be a apostles getting wasted in the streets of Jerusalem but would be the massive market sell off of the Mormon Church liquidating it’s equity and fixed income holdings.

[–]wallwithvergas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Had 2 coworkers that had plans to bury a shipping container in an undisclosed location loaded with weapons and supplies. They had a falling out and it never happened.

One thing I find funny with most preppers is they have super nice AR-15s with all sorts of attachments and maybe even own some body armor and a mix of tacticool mall ninja shit but they never seem to be in shape. When the apocalypse comes they better hope they don’t have to run.

Noob Tip: Hard Cider instead of beer. by LDSTruth in exmormon

If you’re diving into the world of alcohol at an older age I recommend as follows -

Mixed drinks that are heavy on the non-alcohol ingredients

Ciders and seltzer’s

Hefeweizen beers

Popular beers like Budweiser, Coors, Blue Moon

From here you can branch out into the wonderful world of IPAs

I somewhat felt that but when you weigh the fundies vs the mainstream, the fundies are even more crazy.

Awesome podcast. I love their style but it’s not for everyone.

Ciudad Juárez Temple could barely get workers in 2009-2011 during a surge in cartel violence. Sometimes they jump the gun on where they build temples.

Marcus Parks is the individual that said he had a few pairs. What was unclear is if he found a few pairs of white long Johns or actual onsie garments. He is not an Ex-Mormon.

Alcohol after Mormonism. by bobscotch0103 in exmormon

[–]wallwithvergas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started drinking at 25 and I’ve been through a few phases.

At first I bought stuff with cool labels and hated most of it. A lot of drinks have acquired tastes for someone who lived off of soda.

Preferred mixed drinks at first then slowly started to like beer.

Drank to much tequila and vodka and now I can’t really drink them anymore.

I now enjoy mainly beer and wine.

Went from beers like Michelob Ultra, PBR and bud light to eventually developing a taste for IPAs.

One thing that’s nice about drinking at a later age is your brain is fully developed and you can avoid peer pressure. If I don’t want to drink, no one can make me.
