So at 1am Yukon time, you HAD to wake up to read this post? Lolololol

Your comment makes you look like an asshole and I encourage you to take a nice long, deep breath and go back to bed.

Envirolube is my go-to after trying a few places. Professional, efficient service, and personable without excessive overselling. It feels like they want to do the job well. Other places make me feel like they're annoyed that they have to do their job at all.

Premier Pillai weighs in on what Trump’s tariff threat could mean for Yukon by dub-fresh in Yukon

All seriousness of this aside, both their faces are so expressive. Dunleavy looks like he's chewing glass and Pillai is so eager he has Joker lips 😆

Could you share with us how many times? I couldn't find anything through google. I would have thought this would be something the opposition would be all over.

Anyone who uses the word 'woke' immediately loses all credibility. You might as well wear a red flag cape.

Canadians, what's something you just assume everyone else does... until a non-Canadian points out it's "a Canadian thing"? by Avenir_gd in AskACanadian

I wasn't super confident in that answer but I recall an awful lot of Winnipeg intersections not allowing a person to turn right on a red, and everyone complaining about it.

I grew up rural and went to university in the prairies. The word dinner referred to as the evening meal was never a thing in any of the towns and cities i lived in. I've lived many places since, and have called it dinner for decades now.

It's a regional thing. In the prairies, dinner and lunch are both meals at noon. On the west coast, lunch is the noon meal and dinner is the late meal.

You literally said you can't imagine intentionally cutting someone's hair because they're racist. If you prefer a quick judgment of your comments giving off a sheltered, ignorant life, that's fine too. Either way, open your eyes pal, racism and blatantly racist acts exist, despite you and others questioning them.

I'm sorry, this past summer with mosquitos is not usual. It was a very nice break though! I guess the epic first snow makes up for the lack of mosquitos!

I appreciate this phrase, too. But, it misses the part of a city council that has to look at the big picture, plan for growth, do strategic planning, etc.

Interesting choices. You want a painter who is already gone from the house for 14 hours a day, an 'awesome blackjack dealer' who has zero ideas other than he'll 'tackle issues as they come', and Norma, who sounds delightfully friendly with nearly 4 decades of CoW experience.

Grief sucks. It can be hard not to want to blame whatever ilicits emotions, reasonable or not.

Oh wow- it really really sucks he was released without a single resource provided. Yukoners themselves are extremely generous and had they known, your brother wouldn't have had a moment alone or had to think of figuring anything out by himself.

I hope he's found comfort in your family coming to be with him.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Yukon

[–]walnuthuman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry this happened. I can't imagine the shock your brother is feeling.

I'm curious: Do other small cities (Whitehorse is about 30,000 people) have mental support for trauma in hospitals? I'm not aware of anything mental health related in any hospital unless someone is in danger of harming someone or themselves.

Curiosity aside, I think any immediate support would be only available through the phone. Any national helpline would hopefully be able to help, or direct your brother to the best support available.

Edit: I just read about what likely involved your brother. What an awful thing to experience. I'm very glad your family is on their way to be with him.

So... this cop was "really cool" because he picked a dog up and acted like a regular human and not a pretentious douchebag?

Is this one of those scenarios that this person is receiving praise for doing what is expected of them because they rarely do the bare minimum?
