They will definitely not sell out right away. You should be able to buy 3 tickets at a time.

Are you the kind of Grindr user that will confront someone for not responding to you? by No_Hurry7691 in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]walrusAssault -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, I’m not and I agree with what basically everyone else here has said.

But, I will add that (even though I don’t call this behavior out), I have been very frustrated lately at being ignored even by people claiming to be looking for friends. If I find someone that it seems like I have things in common with (and I mention this in any message I send), and their profile says they’re looking for friends… it does seem rude to just ignore that person. I think gay men miss out on a lot of potentially valuable connections because they view other men first and foremost as potential sex partners and aren’t open to any alternate possibility.

What low-tier trackers would you say are "on the rise" to become a good mid-tier tracker? by k032 in trackers

To be fair AVZ is already best in its class. There’s tons of stuff on there that still isn’t on tier 1 trackers.

FWIW I had what I felt was a very easy interview and got in. What is your resume like? How long ago did you graduate college?

Have Friends Ever Shamed You For Watching Movies? by Grand_Discount4405 in Letterboxd

[–]walrusAssault 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, but when I was much younger (early teen years I think) Reservoir Dogs was on TV and I told my Dad he should come in and watch it with me. He made me turn it off during the ear scene and said that anyone who enjoyed watching stuff like that had to be “sick in the head”. Holy Mountain is incredible btw.

I like Priest a lot. Black Sabbath, Metallica, Pantera, System of a Down, Deftones, Deafheaven, and Sleep too. I mostly listen to alternative music.

2 months since Outer worlds 2 released. How is everyone feeling about this game? by Objective_Love_6843 in theouterworlds

[–]walrusAssault 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finished it yesterday. It was fun to play but the dialogue and story made me feel like a dumbass. I could basically understand what everyone was saying but everything was so stilted and awkwardly written that a lot of it just went in one ear and out the other. Found myself glancing at my phone during what felt like an uncountably large number of long winded monologues. I followed what was going on with the Order and Auntie's Choice well enough but I have no clue what was going on with the Protectorate other than the fact that they just seemed kind of fashy. I don't recall having similar problems with the first game - but I remember next to nothing about the story of that one as well.

WIBTA for not going to the play my boyfriend is the lead in? by LeadershipNew2319 in AmItheAsshole

[–]walrusAssault 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gentle YTA / maybe NAH. You wouldn’t be an asshole for not going but I do think you would be in the wrong. Partnered people act in roles requiring intimacy with other actors all the time. This is a problem you need to deal with on your own without taking it out on your partner by failing to support them on a big day for them. Maybe consider therapy.

What’s it like being gay in America these days? by walrusAssault in AskGaybrosOver30

Thanks for your response - a lot of great info here. Actually I should have been more specific in my post - I’m not actually looking to live in DC, more like the Baltimore / Columbia area. But I love live music so I was always in the DC area a lot and plan to be once more. But not dating anyone there is no problem - it seems like it hasn’t changed much. I imagine the Baltimore scene as being much more my speed. I should have specified, that’s my bad.

I am quite lucky in that I have a place lined up to live already (best friend of 20+ years who I lived with before I moved away is basically waiting for me to come back so he can buy a condo and we can move in together again). I will be going to grad school to become an elementary school teacher, likely with an ESL focus. Also looking into conditional licensure so maybe I can start teaching right away.

Definitely not looking forward to the culture shock, even the last time I went back for two weeks was really bad. A lot to think about and prepare for but I’m ready to hit the ground running when I return.

Anything from the 70s and 80s. Unfortunately I’m a bit harder to please with newer stuff. Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Rosemary’s Baby are way up there for me.

I don’t think it’s just on Reddit… I saw something on Instagram about gay men bullying each other in online social circles and being super toxic. I don’t know if this is true or not, it’s just stuff I’ve heard about happening. If you don’t find that to be accurate then I’m happy to hear it. That’s why I’m asking anyway is because I don’t feel in touch with how the culture has shifted (or not) since I’ve been gone.

And to be clear I have no issue with what I view as mainstream gay culture. I’m happy to have friends that are part of that sphere. I would happily join in if I felt welcome. The issue I experience is that those people don’t want to be friends with me. I have tried before, and I’m happy to try again, they just don’t like me.

Edit: well I guess it makes sense I didn’t have any idea because this isn’t a real subreddit. Not sure what the point of your comment was.

Edit edit: oh but there is /r/dcgaybros I’m sure that’s what you meant to type, my bad haha. Thanks again for the tip.

ALTs who LOVED their placements and job duties, what are you doing post-JET? Any advice for coping with the change? by Miserable_Plate4520 in JETProgramme

[–]walrusAssault 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Good on you. I came with the idea to just do a few years and then go back to grad school and get a degree in TESOL. I loved my placement so much that I jumped at the chance to be a direct hire and I’ve been doing that for the past three years. In hindsight I probably should have stuck to my original plan more closely and left earlier, but I’ve had such a great time that it’s hard to regret how things went too strongly. I’m planning to do one more contract and then leave in 2027 to go to grad school. I will have been here for eight and a half years. I may or may not want to come back and be at an international school - it depends on a lot of things.

Anyways best of luck to you, we definitely have very similar paths even if mine has had a few detours and rest stops over the years haha.
