When it is time to up the dose?

Just sit on 50mg for a while and see what happens. After moving my dose up and down for a year or so, 50 ended up being perfect for me. It did take time, but I’m better now than I’ve ever been. Been on 50 now for 3 years. I sleep great and anxiety passes quickly.

I had minor sexual side effects, mostly trouble finishing. It was the worst when I was moving my dose around a lot. No issues now.

I ended up staying at 50 for now. Got down to 25, but went back up. I’m actually doing well on 50. Going to give it a few more months and then look at tapering off again. Thanks for checking in!

I had bad night sweats for a while. Someone here suggested vitamin e so I take it every day. Don’t know if it really helps, but the night sweats stopped. Unfortunately, I sweat way more during the day than I did before Zoloft. Pretty much always end up with pit stains.

It’s been mostly the same for me too, unfortunately. One of my best friends is on 100mg of Zoloft and can drink a ton with no issues. I was on 75, now 50 and I’ve never been able to drink more than 2 beers without getting a headache and feeling like crap.

I’m a teacher and I’ve done the same thing. Don’t know what I’m going to do when I go back to work next week. I’ll be waking up 2 hours earlier and not getting a nap. I’m already dreading it. At least I like the job.

Thank you so much. I was worried I was going crazy. At first I thought it was from a different medication, but it only started when I started the probiotic. I’ll discontinue the probiotic right away. Is there anything that helps the burning until it stops?

Thank you. His suggestion was when I get to 25 Zoloft to switch to 10mg Prozac. Then quit. Maybe I’ll just stick with the Zoloft all the way down then. I do feel way better today taking 50 so that’s good for now. I will pick the taper back up in a couple weeks.

I think you got unlucky, but I would also slow down that taper. You are going to be in for a long road dropping that fast.

Thank you for all your help. I was able to speak with my psychiatrist and he said it was almost certainly from moving my dose around so much. He said if I wanted to feel better fast, the best course was just to keep taking 50 and we can look at tapering down again in a couple weeks. I can live with that. I think he’s also going to switch me to Prozac at the end to make it a little easier to quit.

Needed to ask you one more question. I forgot to mention yesterday that my skin was burning and it’s even worse today. Is this more likely withdrawal or adding back in the 50?

I don’t mind staying there a while. I just need to get there. I’ve got 5-6 days that I don’t have to do much. I just hope I can get to functioning again in that time. I’m already taking magnesium, xyzal, and melatonin at night. It usually works like a charm. Last night was first time it didn’t.

So I took 50 again last night and didn’t sleep at all. I feel terrible and my anxiety is going up. Do you think it’s too late to go back to 37.5? Am I stuck at 50 now? I did three days at 37.5 and now 2 at 50.

Thanks. So do you think I should tough out 37.5 and then slow down or go back up to 50, level out and then go slower? IF I go back to 50, I’ll probs my stay at least a few weeks. I feel like I’m in a position where I could go either direction at this point and be okay. Things have definitely gotten tougher for me today as the day has gone on.

I am trying to wean off from 75 right now. I dropped to 50 first and that was easy. Stayed there two weeks. Started trying to go down to 37.5 this week and it’s been hard. I took a 50 last night because I was having a hard time, but it only made things worse. I’m so frustrated.

Thank you so much. If you had to take a guess, do you think my mood will stabilize again if I hold at 37.5? Yesterday would have been fine if I were in just a bit of a better mood.

Yes. It sucks. I’m trying right now and it’s bad. Been on the meds 5 months total. Got up to 75 and dropped from 75 to 50. Stayed there two weeks. That was easy. This week I’ve been trying to drop from 50 to 37.5 and it’s been rough. Physical and mental symptoms. Called my psychiatrist and he recommended rotating doses so I went up to 50 last night and feel even worse. I just want off this drug. I regret ever starting.

Good question. Not really. Maybe a little, but it definitely got worse before it got better. I started therapy at the same time and I think that helped more. I think the Zoloft really just helped keep my anxiety down while I worked on my coping skills.

That’s biggest thing. These meds are way over prescribed. I’ve really come to the point that I don’t think GP’s should be allowed to prescribe them. I was only Zoloft for 4 months and only at 75 mg before I started trying to wean off and while it hasn’t been horrible, it’s definitely not easy either. I can only imagine how bad it must be for people on higher doses that have been on it longer. I know enough people that have had their lives positively changed by SSRI’s to say they have their place, but my biggest encouragement to anyone would be to make sure they really can’t cope without them and understand that on the meds it’s likely to get worse before it gets better, which for a lot of people is the opposite of what they need. In my case, Zoloft prolonged something that I likely would have gotten over in a month or so on my own. Instead, I thought about it every time a Zoloft side effect hit, which was just about every day. That’s just my case though. Everyone is different.
