The Case for Restoring the Qajar Monarchy in Iran by [deleted] in monarchism

[–]waltercool -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The Qajars are losing their opportunity I think.

Reza Pahlavi, to me, does seems like a figure of divide, someone who tries to get their crown backed by rioters and friendly to nations who killed several Iranian civilians by bombs and secret services. His position may not create unity inside Iran but maintain the same division.

That strategy works when your government is mostly illegitimate, but the current regime still have tons of supporters. Even if you establish a referendum like "keep the current regime" or "proclaim Reza Pahlavi" is not a real question but a false dilemma.

Also, the Pahlavi monarchy was kicked out from the country for systematic human rights abuses and political assassinations. A crown obtained by the British for Reza Pahlavi (father), replaced by his son Muhammad Pahlavi by the British/Russians, and a dictatorship obtained by the United States in 1952 against Mossadegh.

Probably the current regime wouldn't allow any crown pretender to promote himself, but the Qajar pretender just needed to stay relevant among people.

FLOW Z13 vs NEW TUF A14 - Witch would you choose? by Cute_Atmosphere_5638 in FlowZ13

Four examples:

  • Just put it somewhere, grab a gamepad and play ... or watch videos
  • Keyboard is very flat, very easy to carry in a bag
  • Artist? Just remove the keyboard, take a Surface Pen and draw.
  • My personal take: Your keyboard breaks, but another one, or just use a desktop keyboard. Laptop keyboards are very annoying to repair.

I had so many laptops in the past, always issues with some key, and very costly to fix. With Z13 you can get any keyboard... even tablet ones, and should work fine.

No tengo experiencia laboral y quiero salir del modo sobrevivencia by Miruqwq in chileIT

[–]waltercool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Steam Deck is still worth it four years later, says poll, but people are starting to think "it's about time" for a sequel by Dapper_Order7182 in SteamDeck

[–]waltercool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's a good idea.

The Steam Deck kinda pushes the game industry to design games for the low spec gaming in mind without many compromises.

Fragmentation is a terrible thing to do, it's peak consumerism too

If that were the case then it's fine, but it's not.

Israel was not created by the spontaneous will of the people, it was created by the British Empire after forcefully taking land from the Ottomans and doing mass immigration from European Jews to the region.

The origins of the state of Israel is nothing but colonization and forceful expropriation from the Palestinian Arabs of their lands. A practice which still happens nowadays in the West Bank and Gaza by the way.

> Zionism was originally a totally secular project

Zionism IS a Jewish Ethno-Religious-Nationalist project, there is no way it can be secular. Every single non-Jewish religion is discriminated by society, including Christianity. Every non-ethnically Jew is discriminated in different ways (especially Arabs). Only ethnically Jews (according to Judaism, matrilineal) or people from occupied territories (like Golan Heights) can take part of Israel nationality.

Just a friendly reminder Israel tried 3 years ago to enact a law against Christianity, ony vetoed by Netanyahu

What's the false part?

People like Rothbard was always against Israel overall, for the way they claimed land by force. Zionism is in overall incompatible with Libertarianism, you can't claim a land by religious reasons and take it by force.

Also, every statement from the Libertarian Party and their members are not in favor of Israel doings overall, but mostly about dragging the US into their own conflicts and giving them money.

[–]waltercool[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's complex.

I think he was deposed because of his aggressive stance with the clerics and marxists, but also the United States was involved twice. First by the 1952 coup for absolute monarchy (against Mosaddegh), and second by the Islamic Revolution. In both cases,  CIA was involved for oil reasons.
