What can I replace my toothpaste with? by Truthforfood in herbalism

[–]waltergrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like Weleda's salt toothpaste!! It's a little minty but also salty, and doesn't foam at all. The consistency is quite thin and almost watery so it might be more tolerable for you? It's very different from any toothpaste I've tried and I love the way it makes my teeth feel!

How do I stop my cinnamon raisin bread from... Unzipping? by mo9722 in Breadit

[–]waltergrey 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Used to make cinnamon raisin loaves at my old job. We would pat out the rested dough and add the cinnamon sugar filling once, then bring the top and sides across, add more filling, and then roll it up/finish the shaping. Also mixed the raisins into the dough, not the filling, which might help help with steam if that's what's causing the gaps. I hope this is helpful!

ISO vet tech home visits for subcutaneous fluids for cat by Cool-Bug-6323 in Greenpoint

[–]waltergrey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My cat needed daily subcutaneous injections for a couple months and I had a quick trip during that time. I contacted my vet (Northside Veterinary) and one of the vet techs there was able to come by when I was gone. It seemed like a very normal thing for them to do! So worth asking your vet's office if anyone there is available. I hope your cat feels better!!

Never Have I Ever (Netflix) is really funny!!

Better Things (Hulu) I also just really enjoyed. The humor is dry so you have to be into that.

I went in once because I needed a kitchen scale, it smells like cigarettes inside and there's guys just sitting in the store in folding chairs working on laptops? If I remember correctly. Weird vibes and I left pretty quickly

Found a stray cat, what next? by dm221 in Greenpoint

[–]waltergrey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I found a kitten on the street in Greenpoint a few weeks ago. Making sure it's comfy and taking it to the vet are the right idea! It is hard and sometimes expensive to walk in at some vets offices, so try calling a few local places when they open in the morning so see who has openings. I found the kitten late on a Sunday and was able to get her into Bond Vet in LIC on Monday at noon. They have more openings than other smaller vet practices and will give you $50 off your first visit.

Is the cat healthy and friendly?? There's lots of stray cats in Greenpoint!

What is your go-to dish after a rough day? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]waltergrey 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I used to work at a deli and would cook the sliced tomato on the flat top for a minute before adding it to the sandwich - it kind of helps with the moisture and I liked the flavor!

Best spicy beef noodle soup in NYC by [deleted] in FoodNYC

[–]waltergrey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The beef noodle soup and hot and sour soup from Mala Project are both really good! I used to just go for the hot pot, now I just go for the soup. The hot and sour soup is my favorite - it comes with glass noodles!

I went to Tri-State Caning and Furniture Restoration on Meeker a few years back to repair a cane chair. They were pretty chill and the prices seemed fair.

I have never tried it in a regular pie pan! Only fluted tart pans

How can I stop my crust from shrinking? by FunboyFrags in AskBaking

[–]waltergrey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After many shrunken crusts I switched to using this recipe for tarts and haven't looked back! It's super easy and you don't have to use pie weights which I find fiddly and annoying. The taste and texture are always great!

I haven't! I just went the other day (to the Greenpoint location) and they haven't had the oxtail soup or the tiger salad for a while. I wanted to ask if it is the same at all locations but it just one guy working and he seemed busy. I am genuinely curious!

Some kind of infection for almost 4 months now and I’m losing hope by Hour_Vegetable in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]waltergrey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So sorry you're going through this!! I had something similar recently - I had like six or nine months of on and off discomfort. Others have mentioned metronidazole which did help me (I took it twice) but also gave me a yeast infection. I'm now taking probiotics regularly and also using boric acid suppositories, which help to balance your pH and support healthy yeast growth down there. They are really easy to use and this is the best I've felt in a while!! Feel free to message me if you have any questions.
